    ABSTRACT:
Orodispersible liquisolid system is the combination of liquisolid technique and orodispersible system. The poor dissolution rate of water insoluble drug is a major drawback for the development of pharmaceutical dosage forms. The oral absorption of drug is most often controlled by dissolution in the gastrointestinal tract. Liquisolid system has been used to enhance dissolution rate of poorly water-soluble drugs. Orodispersible tablets are given in order to provide fast action by disperse in the mouth, without the need of water and make them compliance for paediatric and geriatric patients and to bypass the liver metabolism.

    ABSTRACT
Herbal medicines have been used for several years throughout the world. Especially in India, herbal medicines are in high demand. Utilization of herbal medicines has increased because of their ability to treat various diseases with lesser side effects. The development of novel herbal formulations are reported to have remarkable advantages over respective crude drugs preparations or extracts which includes enhancement of solubility, bioavailability, protection from toxicity, enhancement of pharmacological activity, reduction in dose, enhancement of stability, improved tissue distribution, sustained delivery and protection from physical and chemical degradation. The herbal nanoparticles are colloidal system with herbal particles varying in size from 1 to 1000 nm. The objective of this review article is to summarize the drawbacks of some conventional herbal formulations and the advantages of novel herbal formulations.

ABSTRACT: Design and development of herbal nanoparticles has become a frontier research in the nanoformulation arena. Curcumin, a hydrophobic polyphenol (diferuloyl methane) is a potent phytomolecule obtained from turmeric (Curcuma longa, Family-Zingiberaceae) has a wide range of biological activities in chronic diseases and has wide therapeutic efficacy. But the clinical application of curcumin was limited due to its poor water solubility, rapid metabolism and rapid elimination which ultimately results in poor bioavailability upon oral administration. Therefore introduction of nanotechnology provides a solution towards increased bioavailability of curcumin. In this review, an overview of curcumin nanoparticles is discussed.

Drug absorption in the gastrointestinal tract is a highly variable process and prolonging gastric retention of the dosage form extends the time for drug absorption. Novel drug delivery system overcomes the physiological problems of short gastric retention through various approaches including floating drug delivery systems (FDDS), these systems float due to bulk density less than gastric fluids and so, remain buoyant in the stomach for a prolonged period of time, releases the drug slowly at the desired rate from the system and increase the bioavailability of narrow absorption window drugs. This review entitles the applications of sustained release effervescent floating bilayer tablets, suitable for sustained release of those drugs incompatible with floating constituents over an extended period of time for better patient compliance and acceptability. The purpose of this paper is to review the principle of sustained release effervescent floating drug delivery system, current technology used in the development of same as well as summarizes the applications, advantages, methodology, evaluation methods and future potential for sustained release effervescent floating bilayer tablets
