Directorate of Plant Protection Quarantine and Storage (DPPQ&S) was established for advising the Government of India and State Governments on all the matter related to Plant Protection. Plant Protection strategy and activities have significant importance in the overall crop production programmes for sustainable agriculture. Mandate of DPPQS are as follows; To popularize adoption of integrated pest management (IPM) through training and demonstration in crops inter-alia promotion of biological control approaches in crop protection technology.
Call for applications for Internship of students
Directorate is operating through different division with specific objectives such as effective implementation of Integrated Pest Management, Plant Quarantine, Pesticide’s Registration and Quality 12-07/2024-P&C I/77138/2026 Control, Locust Control and Research, etc.
Systematic approach to training that ensures students are trained and certified to produce at the highest skill levels required for the occupation. Therefore, the specialized technical knowledge developed by the them can be efficiently used by joining any Institutions / Universities, Laboratories, Private Agencies related to specific fields are for entrepreneurship. Directorate of Plant Protection Quarantine & Storage (DPPQ&S) invites applications form students for Internship (8th batch i.e. October, 2026) at DPPQ&S.
Total number of Seats : 135
The selected interns will be engaged in following plant protection activities in DPPQS Headquarter and field units/station located in various states –
a. Pest Risk Analysis (PRA):
b. Plant Quarantine Inspection and Supervision of Fumigation Treatment:
c. Plant Quarantine Laboratory Investigation:
d. Survey and Surveillance:
e. Rearing of Bio-control Agents and Mass Production of Bio- pesticides:
f. Monitoring and control of the Desert Locust:
g. Scrutinize of applications for Registrations as per Insecticide Act, 1968:
h. Packaging and Processing:
i. Analysis of Chemical Pesticides:
j. Data processing / Statistical Analysis
Duration of internship : 6 Weeks (from the date of Joining) but not exceeding six months subject to monthly performance evaluation on unpaid basis.
Minimum Educational Qualification for internship :
• Student completed / appearing in Final Examination of M.Sc. degree in Agriculture with specialization in Entomology or Nematology, Plant Pathology, Agronomy or M.Sc. degree in Zoology with specialization in Entomology or Nematology, Plant Protection, Agronomy (Weed Science) from a recognized university or institution (M.Sc. degree pursing student must have passed 2nd semester).
• Students completed appearing in Final Examination of M.Sc. Degree in Agriculture Chemistry or M.Sc. Degree in Chemistry with specialization in Organic or Analytical Chemistry, from a recognized university or institution. (M.Sc. degree pursuing student must have passed 2nd semester).
• Students completed / appearing in Final Examination of Master’s Degree in Veterinary Pharmacology/ Veterinary Pathology / Animal Biotechnology and Veterinary physiology from recognized university/institution. (Master’s degree pursuing student must have passed 2nd semester)
• Students completed / appearing in Final Examination of M.V.Sc. or M.Sc. with Zoology from a recognized university/institute or equivalent. (Master’s Degree pursuing student must have passed 2nd Semester)
• Students completed / appearing in Final Examination of Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Radiation Technology or Medical Imaging Technology from recognized university or institution or B.Sc. Degree in any Discipline and have a Diploma in radiology or Imaging Technology from recognized institute. (Bachelor Degree pursuing student must have passed 4th semester)
• Students will be selected for the internship through the following process: Interested applicants may apply online only through e-mail at intern-dppqs@gov.in in the prescribed proforma (as Annexure- D) as give in the ‘Internship Guideline’ available on the DPPQS website –ppqs.gov.in. All the applications received will be scrutinized by the Committee and final list of selected candidate will be displayed DPPQS website.

Note : No remuneration will be provided to the selected interns. After successful completion of their tenure, they will receive an intern 12-07/2024-P&C I/77138/2026 experience certificate .
