National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health (NIRRH), formerly known as Institute for Research in Reproduction is a premier research institute of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). It is situated in the vicinity of a number of hospitals and research institutes in central Mumbai. Since its inception in 1970, it has been making vigorous efforts to improve the reproductive health of people through research, education and health care services.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world.  As early as in 1911, the Government of India set up the Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA) with the specific objective of sponsoring and coordinating medical research in the country. After independence, several important changes were made in the organisation and the activities of the IRFA. It was redesignated in 1949 as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) with considerably expanded scope of functions. ABSTRACT
In an attempt to find out a new class of antimicrobial agents new schiff base ligand of 2-amino 5-nitro thiazole and its copper complex were prepared. The Microwave assisted synthesis was carried out by condensation of 2-amino 5-nitro thiazole and substituted salicyldehyde. The newly synthesized schiff base ligand and its copper complex were tested against representatives of gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis) and gram- negative bacteria (E. coli, Pseudomonas putida) and fungi (Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger) by disc diffusion method.
