The Directorate of Family Welfare was established in the year 1976 as a part of the Directorate of Health Services subsequently around 1992-93, the department of Family Welfare was separately administratively from Director of Health Services .The need to reduce the IMR, MMR & TFR, it became imperative to have an independent organizational set up for the Directorate of Family Welfare on the pattern of similar directorates countrywide. The various activities include planning, implementing, supervising, collaborating, monitoring and evaluating various aspects of RMNCH + A Program, a flagship program under NRHM has six components:- Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child & Adolescent Health.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world.  As early as in 1911, the Government of India set up the Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA) with the specific objective of sponsoring and coordinating medical research in the country. After independence, several important changes were made in the organisation and the activities of the IRFA. It was redesignated in 1949 as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) with considerably expanded scope of functions. The ICMR is funded by the Government of India through the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), an apex body for the formulation, coordination and development of research in Ayurveda on scientific lines was established in March 1978 after reorganization of Central Council for Research Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy. The Minister of Health & Family Welfare is the President of the Governing Body of the Council, while the Joint Secretary chairs the Standing Finance Committee. ABSTRACT
In an attempt to find out a new class of antimicrobial agents new schiff base ligand of 2-amino 5-nitro thiazole and its copper complex were prepared. The Microwave assisted synthesis was carried out by condensation of 2-amino 5-nitro thiazole and substituted salicyldehyde. The newly synthesized schiff base ligand and its copper complex were tested against representatives of gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis) and gram- negative bacteria (E. coli, Pseudomonas putida) and fungi (Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger) by disc diffusion method.
