The history of Jamia Hamdard begins with the establishment of a small Unani clinic in the year 1906 by Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed, one of the well-known practitioners of Unani System of Medicine of his time. Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed had a vision of making the practice of Unani Medicine into a scientific discipline so that Unani medicines could be dispensed in a more efficacious manner to patients.

Professor (Biotechnology) 
Eligibility (A or B): A. (i) An eminent scholar having a Ph.D degree in the Biotechnology/allied subjects/ disciplines and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120 as per the criteria mentioned in UGC Regulation 2018. (ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in University/College as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National level institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate. OR B. An Outstanding professional, having a Ph.D degree in Biotechnology/allied subjects/disciplines from any academic institutions (not included in A above)/industry, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he/she has ten years of experience.

Assistant Professor (Biotechnology/Animal/ Plant Biotechnology) 
Essential qualification- 
Eligibility (A or B) : A. (i) A Master‘s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in Biotechnology/Animal/ Plant Biotechnology/allied subjects/disciplines from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. (ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET/GPAT/GATE or who are or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET : Provided, the candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D. candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfilment of the following conditions:-
a. The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode; 
b. The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners; 
c. An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted; 
d. The Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a refereed journal; e. The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC / ICSSR/ CSIR or any similar agency. The fulfilment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs), as applicable, of the University concerned.
Note : NET/SLET/SET shall not be mandatory for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET. OR B.The Ph.D degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities(ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai). Desirable: Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology/Animal/ Plant Biotechnology /allied subjects/disciplines.


Assistant Professor (Translational and Clinical Research)
Essential qualification
Eligibility (A or B) : A. (i) A Master‘s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in Translational and Clinical Research/allied subjects/disciplines from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. (ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET/GPAT/GATE or who are or have been awarded a Ph. D. Assistant Professor (Chemistry)

Associate Professor (Pharmaceutics)
Eligibility : (i) A good academic record, with a Ph.D. Degree in the Pharmaceutics/ Allied subjects/ disciplines. 
(ii) A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed) in Pharmaceutics/Allied subjects/disciplines with B. Pharm. or equivalent degree in Pharmacy. 
(iii) A minimum of 8 years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University or College or Accredited Research Institution/Industry with a minimum of seven publications in the peer-reviewed journals or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of Seventy five (75) as per the criteria given in UGC Regulations-2018. 
(iv) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology- mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) of UGC.

Assistant Professor (Pharmaceutics)
Eligibility (A or B): A. (i) A Master‘s degree in Pharmaceutics/allied disciplines with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university with B. Pharm. or equivalent degree in Pharmacy. 1. Jamia Hamdard reserves its right to draw a panel of candidates for engagement on contract for present & future requirements. 2. The minimum qualification, pay and other benefits shall be as per the UGC/Statutory bodies/Jamia Hamdard norms. Jamia Hamdard provides CPF-cum-Gratuity benefits for regular employees. 3. 4. Mere fulfilment of the minimum qualification and experience shall not entail a candidate to be short-listed for the interview. 
5. Jamia Hamdard may laydown criteria in order to short-list the candidates to meet the academic and research quality standards. Short listing of candidates will be done on the basis of API score, if applicable, as per UGC/Regulatory Bodies norms. 
6. Jamia Hamdard reserves its right to increase or decrease number of the vacancies and also may not fill up the few or all the vacancies as it may deem necessary in view of emerging circumstances. Jamia Hamdard may consider the candidature of the candidates who did not apply, if found suitable. 
7. Jamia Hamdard reserves the right to offer a candidate a position that is different/lower from the one originally applied for, based on the candidate's qualifications and suitability for other available positions. 
8. Canvassing in any form will lead to outright rejection of the applications.
9. Incomplete applications in any respect will not be entertained by the Jamia Hamdard. 
10. No correspondence, whatsoever, will be entertained from candidates regarding conduct and result of interview and reasons for not being called for interview or selection. 
11. The minimum qualification and other conditions for teaching posts shall be as prescribed by the UGC and other regulatory bodies such as AICTE, BCI & NCISM etc. 
12. The applications for the position(s) may reach the office of the Assistant Registrar (Establishment), Establishment Section, Jamia Hamdard, Hamdard Nagar, New Delhi – 110 062 on or before 31st May, 2024 through speed post/registered post/courier/By hand, superscribing on the top of the envelope, the Post Code, Post Applied For with the subject, advertisement number, date & School /Department Name.
