The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a growing phenomenon. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, RGCB began in 1990 amongst humble surroundings as a small charitable society called the Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (C-DEST).

The Government of India, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and based on the recommendation of Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, decided to create five undergraduate science universities. One of them is located at Kolkata and was started from 2006. Named as the INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH (IISER), these IISERs are designed to reach the prestigious position in the global setting that IISc, IIMs and IITs presently enjoy.

The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is a non–governmental, official public standards–setting authority for prescription and over–the–counter medicines and other healthcare products manufactured or sold in the United States. USP also sets widely recognized standards for food ingredients and dietary supplements. USP sets standards for the quality, purity, strength, and consistency of these products–critical to the public health.

Welcome to Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), a unique P. C. Mahalanobish institution devoted to the research, teaching and application of statistics, natural sciences and social sciences. Mizoram University was established on 2nd July 2001 by the Mizoram University Act, 2000 which appeared in the Gazette of India (Extraordinary) on 25th April, 2000 as a Central University having His Excellency, the President of India as its Visitor.

Mangalayatan University (MU) has been created under the "Mangalayatan University, Uttar Pradesh Act" and notified by the Government of Uttar Pradesh as Act No. 32 of 2006, by its Gazette No. 362/VII-V-1-1(Ka)-12/2006 dated October 30, 2006, with the right to confer degrees under section (2f) and 22(1) of the UGC Act. Established in 2006, MU was founded with the vision of providing high quality education to students that would equip them with skills to differentiate themselves in today’s fast changing world. Already, over 1,300 students have graduated from MU in various streams like Business Management, Biotechnology, Computer Applications, etc.

The Laboratory of Molecular Cell Biology belongs to the department of Biology in the group of Science & Technology. This laboratory is also a department of the Flemish Institute for Biotechnology (VIB, www.vib.be). Prof. Van Dijck is one of the two professors in this unit. An important research topic in his laboratory is the understanding of the development of fungal biofilms. We mainly focus on Candida albicans and Candida glabrata.
