The journey of Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), popularly known as Pusa Institute, began in 1905 at Pusa (Bihar) with the generous grant of 30,000 pounds from an American philanthropist, Mr. Henry Phipps. The institute was then known as Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) which functioned with five departments, namely Agriculture, Cattle Breeding, Chemistry, Economic Botany and Mycology. Bacteriology unit was added in 1907.  The name of ARI was changed to Imperial Institute of Agricultural Research in 1911 and, in 1919 it was renamed as Imperial Agricultural Research Institute. Following a devastating earth quake on 15th January 1934, the institute was shifted to Delhi on 29th July 1936. Post independence, the institute has been renamed as Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).

Eligible candidates may appear in Walk-in-interview for the following posts of Senior Research Fellow in DBT funded project as follows

Molecular characterization of resistance to insecticides and fumigants in stored product insects in North Eastern regions” Funding agency : DBT PI: Dr Chitra Srivastava

Emoluments (fixed) : Rs. 25000/- + 30% HRA per month for I & II year; and 28000/- + 30% HRA for III year (As per DST OM No. SR/S9/Z- 09/2012 dated 21/10/2014)

Essential: Masters degree in Entomology/ Zoology / Biotechnology /Life Sciences with 4 years / 5 years of Bachelors degree. Candidates having post graduate degree in Basic Sciences with 3 years Bachelor's degree and 2 years Master's degree should have NET qualification or equivalent Desirable: Candidates with research experience in handling of insects/molecular biological tools

 

Age limit : 35 years for men and 40 years for women

Terms and Conditions:
-  The above post is purely temporary, time bound and co-terminus with the project. Relaxation in age limit for SC/ST/OBC and other candidates as per government rules.
-  No objection certificate from the employer, in case he/she has an employment.
-  Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
-  No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
-  The selected candidates shall not claim for regular appointments at this institute as the positions are co-terminus with respective Project/ Schemes.

Eligible candidates may come for the walk-in-interview with two copies of their bio-data in prescribed format (Annexure-I) and one set of attested copies of their certificates/marksheets/experience proof.
