National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as Beri-Beri Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a Deficiency Disease Enquiry and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged Nutrition Research Laboratories (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.At the time of its golden jubilee in 1969, it was renamed as National Institute of Nutrition (NIN).

Applications are invited from eligible candidates by speed post for the following posts under the project entitfed “GCRF-Action Against Stunting Hub” funded by UKRI.

Project Field Operations Manager
No of vacancies : 1 Post - UR
Essential
Qualifications : MBBS/MD/Masters / M. Phil/ Ph.D in the following disciplines: Life sciences, Social Sciences, Developmental studies, Public health or allied subjects/ Epidemiology + Minimum 2 years’ experience of carrying out community studies.
Desirable  
• Experience of monitoring, executing, co-ordinating, supporting and supervising community based research projects.
• Knowledge of English and Local language.
• Planning and managing all the field logistics.
• Experience of monitoring tablet based data collection

Nature of duties
• The project involves data and relevant biological samples collection at different time points in the community from Pregnant women starting form 2nd trimester, collection information on breast feeding activities and follow up of child up to 2 years.
• Field supervisor would be in charge of implementation of the project activities under guidance of principle investigator and Research Officer of the project.
• She would be responsible to support literature review in the line of objectives of the project, training of research assistant and field investigators, finalizing data collection tools, planning, monitoring and supervision of data collection.
• Regular travel to project areas for monitoring, coordination and supportive supervision to improve project implementation and take corrective measures if required
• Assess and evaluate staffing, compliance and projected needs to maintain quality.
• Passion for field research and demonstrable experience managing data collectors.

• Community centric attitude and skills, Commitment to quality work by self, by team.
• Team management, partner management and relationship building skills.
• Facilitate in site mapping.
• Ensure regular supply of all field consumables.
• Coordinate with other programme staffs in the field (ANM, ASHA, Anaganwadi and other staffs including staffs of other NGOs who are working with the same target population).
•  Maintain rapport and coordinate with local govt, health facilities.
Age : Below 45years
Cons. Salary : Rs. 60,000/- p.m. (fixed) without any allowances.

Project Research Assistant (Epigenetics)
No of vacancies : 3 Posts (UR-2, OBC-1)
Essential Qualifications : Bachelors degree with Biochemistry/Genetics/Microbiology/Biotechnology as one of the subjects from a recognized university with at least two years research experience in Molecular Biology after graduation Or
Post Graduate Biochemistry/Genetics/Microbiology/Biotechnology from a recognized university.
Desirable Experience of DNA isolation and PCR related work.
Nature of duties
• Is expected to assist in standardizing the required assays for genetic /epigenetic analysis
• Is expected to assist in setting up internal and external quality control systems
• Collection, processing and storage of biological samples.
• Preparation of electronic reports in excel or other relevant software for epigenetic analysis.
Age : 30 years. *Age relaxation is admissible as per ICMR guidelines.
Salary : Rs 28,000/-fixed without any allowances.
Tenure : Initially for one year

Project Research Assistant (Gut Health and Microbiome)
No of vacancies : 2 Post (EWS-1, UR-1)
Essential Qualifications : Bachelors degree with Biochemistry / Genetics / Microbiology / Biotechnology as one of the subjects from a recognized university with at least two years research experience in Microbiology or parasitology Or
Post Graduate in Graduate Biochemistry / Genetics / Microbiology / Biotechnology / Medical Microbiology from a recognized university.
Desirable : Prior experience of DNA isolation and Microbial Genetics or parasitoloqy

Nature of duties
• Is expected to assist in standardizing the required assays for parasitology and Metagenomics
• Is expected to assist in setting up internal and external quality control systems
• Collection, processing and storage of biological samples.
• Preparation of electronic reports in excel or other relevant software for parasitology and Metagenomics.
Age : 30 years. *Age relaxation is admissible as per ICMR guidelines.
Salary : Rs 28,000/-fixed without any allowances.
Tenure : Initially for one year

Project Research Assistant (Food Safety & Microbiology)
No of vacancies : 1 Post (UR)
Essential Qualifications : Bachelors degree with Nutrition / Microbiology as one of the subjects from a recognized university with at least two years research experience in Microbial Hygiene Indicators of Food Safety.
Or
Post Graduate in Applied Nutrition/Microbiology/Medical Microbiology from a recognized university.
Desirable : Prior experience of Isolation and Identification of microbial hygiene indicators and food pathogens

Nature of duties
• Isolation and Identification of microbial hygiene indicators and food pathogens
• Collecting data and samples from households
• Administering questionnaire for food safety and Animal Source Foods
Age : 30 years. *Age relaxation is admissible as per ICMR guidelines.
Salary : Rs 28,000/-fixed without any allowances.
Tenure : Initially for one year

Terms and conditions
1) The above positions/posts are on temporary contract basis.
2) The Director & Appointing Authority has the right to accept/reject any application without assigning any reason(s) and no correspondence in this matter will be entertained.
3) *Age relaxation is admissible in respect of Retrenched Government Employees, Departmental Candidates (including projects) and Ex-Servicemen in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Government from time to time. Age concession to the extent of service rendered in other research projects will also be admissible for experienced and skilled persons. Age, qualifications, etc., will be reckoned as on the last date of receipt of applications.
4) ** Candidates applying for EWS category posts must possess Income and Asset certificate to be issued from District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/Deputy Commissioner/Additional Deputy Commissioner/1st Class stipendiary Magistrate / Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Taluka Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/Extra Assistant Commissioner as per the DoPT OM dated 31st January, 2019. Candidates who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for SC’s, ST’s and OBC's and whose family annual income below Rs. 8 Lakhs are to be identified as EWS’s for the benefit of EWS reservation.
5) Upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and 3 years in case of OBC category. The candidates should ensure that they belong to the OBC category while applying the project posts. Such candidates should produce a valid OBC-Non Creamy Layer certificate in the prescribed format during document verification that he/she does not belong to the creamy layer. The OBC certificate shall not be older than one year at the time of joining the post. In case of not complying with these stipulations, their candidature or OBC reservation will not be entertained.
6) The appointment can be terminated with one-month notice from either side without assigning any reason.
7) Since, the posts are temporary; the incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointment at ICMR-NIN or continuation of his/ her services in any other project.
8) Other allowances like CCA, LTC, Medical Claim and PF are not applicable.
9) The results of the final selection will be placed on ICMR-NIN website only. No intimation will be sent by e- mail or phone.
10) The recruited project staff is eligible for leave as per project recruitment rules/guidelines and will have to give an undertaking before joining.
11) At the time of joining duty, the candidates should bring all original certificates of educational qualifications (from SSC onwards), Experience, Aadhaar Card, Community and PWD Certificate (if applicable) for availing age relaxation, passport size photograph along with one set of photocopies of the certificates duly attested (can be self attested) for verification.
12) The conditions of employment will be the same as that of the project staff on contract basis.
13) Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
