The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is the premier national agency for the formulation, promotion and conduct of biomedical research in India. The mandate and policies of the ICMR coincide with national health policies. The Council not only plans and promotes medical research in the current and emerging health problems of the country but also is expected to build a strong national cadre of skilled biomedical scientists. One of the major mandates of the Council is to augment capacity strengthening of institutions involved in both basic and clinical sciences.  The world is now witnessing a rapid change in the way biomedical research is conducted. The developing countries are in the grip of formidable challenges posed by the existing communicable diseases coupled with new emerging infections. On the positive side, rapid advances in science and technology have brought in new technologies to understand the disease process and find strategies for prevention and cure. There are areas at the cutting edge of science such as molecular medicine, genomics, immunology, which have revolutionized knowledge for finding rapid diagnostics, vaccines, new drug targets and other therapeutic measures.

Post : Research Assistant

Applications are invited for the post of Research Scientist - II in the ICMR funded project titled “Nodal coordinating centre for surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in Staphylococcus and Enterococcus species” in the Department of Microbiology, JIPMER, Puducherry-605 006.

The Institute of Life Sciences was conceived in the context of globalization, to foster research competence in India and to bridge the divide between academic research and the pharmaceutical & biotechnology industries. The institute was incorporated as a non-profit entity under Section 25 of the Indian companies act, facilitating operational autonomy.

Defence Research & Development Establishment (DRDE), Gwalior is a premier life science laboratory under Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO). It is engaged in R&D activities on detection, protection and decontamination of chemical and biological agents. DRDE provides excellent opportunity to young and motivated researchers to pursue a research work in chemical and life sciences. The core competence of DRDE includes: synthesis, evaluation and process development for toxicants and antidotes; detection and analysis of chemicals at trace levels; development of sensors for chemical and bioloqlca agents; toxicity studies and safety evaluation of chemicals in vitro and in vivo; recombinant DNA and hybridoma technology for detection and prophylaxis against infectious agents; development of immune-based detection systems and kits for chemical and biological agents; development of vector management systems; bioremediation of organic waste at low temperature.

DRDE, Gwalior invites application from eligible and interested candidates for the selection for JRFs, purely on temporary basis.

Applications on prescribed form are invited from eligible candidates for following positions in ICMR sponsored research project “Cytogenetic profiling of patients with chronic kidney disease : Evaluation of genomic instability” purely on temporary basis. The project is sanctioned for three years, extendable on yearly basis. The selected candidates will be paid remunerations as per existing ICMR rules.
