The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is an autonomous body under the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha & Homoeopathy (AYUSH), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The Council is an apex body in India for formulation, development and promotion of research in Ayurvedic system of medicine. The Council carries out its activities and functions through its network of 31 Institutions located all over India.

The Central Research Councils function under Ministry of AYUSH, Govt, of India to promote and coordinate research activities in the respective systems of medicine, as indicated below:

Applications are invited through Walk-in-Interview on 6th June 2017 between 09:00 hrs. to 11:00 hrs. for the following vacancies under Non-Institutional ad-hoc project entitled “Genome-wide mapping of androgen and estrogen receptor binding sites in adult rat seminiferous epithelium ”.

Applications are invited on plain paper for two purely temporary contractual posts of Scientist ‘B’ (Non medical) in the Indian Journal of Medical Research (IJMR) Unit, Division of Publication & Information, ICMR, for a period of one year.

ICMR JRF Examination is the first step in the process of admission to the Ph.D/    Research Programme through council's support. Test for ICMR JRF fellowship are conducted at the 12 centres viz. Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Srinagar and Varanasi once a year.  The award of JRF is made on merit basis by holding an entrance examination after issuing a countrywide admission notice.  The admission notice is published in leading English Newspapers of India usually during March/April and  also on the website. The entrance examination is usually held in the first/second week of July.

The history of the IIT system dates back to 1946 when a committee was set up by Hon'ble Sir Jogendra Singh, Member of the Viceroy's Executive Council, Department of Education, Health and Agriculture to consider the setting up of Higher Technical Institutions for post war industrial development in India. The 22 member committee headed by Sri N.R.Sarkar, in its report, recommended the establishment of four Higher Technical Institutions in the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern regions, possibly on the lines of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, with a number of secondary institutions affiliated to it.
