The National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis [Formerly Tuberculosis Research Centre (TRC)], a permanent institute under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), is an internationally recognized institution for Tuberculosis (TB) research. It is a Supranational Reference Laboratory and a WHO Collaborating Centre for TB Research and Training. Recently, an International Centre for Excellence in Research (ICER) in collaboration with NIH was established at the Centre.  The Centre (formerly known as the Tuberculosis Chemotherapy Centre) was set up in Madras in 1956 as a 5-year project, under the joint auspices of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the Government of Tamil Nadu, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the British Medical Research Council (BMRC).

Post : Project Technical Assistant (Field Investigator)

Project titled :  “Impact Evaluation of Antiretroviral Therapy (IE-ART) under NACO”

Place of posting : Karnataka and Kerala (ART centres are yet to be decided)

Note: The candidate is required to work in Karnataka and Kerala at the respective ART Centres as per the directions of Principal Investigator of the project.

No of Posts : 3 (Three) – UR-1, SC-1, OBC-1

Essential qualification
Graduate in science from a recognized university with three years’ work experience from a recognized institution in life science
OR
Master’s Degree in Life Science preferably Microbiology / Biotechnology / Bacteriology / Biochemistry

Desirable qualification:
Work experience in ART Centers/HIV AIDS Research; Should be able to write and speak Kannada and/or Malayalam

Age limit  : Not exceeding 30 years* *Age relaxation will be given to SC/ST and OBC candidates as per GOI norms (OBC candidates will have to produce NCL certificate as per GOI format).

Emoluments : Consolidated salary Rs. 29,565/- pm

Nature of Duties : Qualitative interviews, secondary data collection & review and systematic classification. Travelling will be required for field data collection.

Duration of contract : Initially for a period of six months but likely to be extended.

Date of Walk-in-Written Test : 11/08/2018 (Saturday)
Reporting Time : 9.00 AM TO 10.00 AM (Written test from 10.00 AM onwards)

How to apply
Interested candidates fulfilling the required qualifications may download the prescribed application form from the website nirt.res.in and directly report on the date mentioned above at National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, 1 Mayor Sathyamoorthy Road, Chetpet, Chennai 600 031 between 9.00 AM & 10.00 AM to attend the walk-ininterview/ written test. They may submit on spot the filled-in application form affixing a passport size colour photograph along with self attested copies of age proof, educational qualifications (from matriculation onwards), certificates of experience related to nature of job, caste certificate (for OBC candidate, creamy layer/non-creamy layer certificate as per Govt of India guidelines) and a fee of Rs.100/- (drawn in favour of Director, NIRT, Chennai) in the shape of demand draft from any Nationalized Bank. The original of the attached documents should also be carried with for the purpose of verification. SC/ST, physically disabled candidates and women candidates are exempted from payment of fees subject to production of valid certificate.
