BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI) is an autonomous Institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. BRIC-NABI aims at catalysing the transformation of the Agri- food sector in India by being a nodal organization for knowledge generation and translational science leading to value-added products based on Agri-Food biotech innovations for improved household nutritional security. Since its inception in 2010, BRIC-NABI is involved in research activities for Bio-fortification, the development of designer crops for improved nutrition, providing sustainable and novel solutions for quality food and nutrition, and the development of evidence-based functional foods to counter malnutrition.

Post : Research Associate-III (RA-III) (One position)

The food and nutritional Biotechnology division at BRIC-NABI requires the following research personnel purely on a temporary basis.

Project Title : “Genomics assisted improvement of scented rice from Assam (Joha) and Manipur for yield enhancement under stress and improved nutrition” (GAP-61)
Principle Investigator : Prof. Ashwani Pareek, Executive Director, BRIC-NABI
Co-Principal Investigator : Dr. Joy K. Roy, Scientist-G, BRIC-NABI
Duration : Up to 11 June, 2029 or availability of the project funds

Essential Qualification : PhD or equivalent degree having three years of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/M Pharma/ ME/M Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.

Desirable Experience :
i) bioinformatics analysis of large nextgen sequencing data (short reads and long reads) and bioinformatic pipeline development, especially in plants;
ii) development of platinum standard reference quality genome assembly; and
iii) developing a super pan-genomes landscape

Job Responsibility :
i) development of platinum standard reference quality genome of Kola Joha rice
ii)developing a super pan-genomes landscape of Kola Joha and Manipur scented rice

Emoluments : Rs.67,000/- fixed/month + 18% HRA.
FOR RA Emoluments and Eligibility conditions are as per DST OM: DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26 th June 2023.
