The Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. Since its establishment in 1978, the CCRUM as the apex government organization for research in Unani Medicine has been engaged in conducting scientific research on the applied as well as fundamental aspects of Unani system of medicine. Consequently, over the past four decades of its existence, the Council has made significant strides in clinical research, drug standardization, survey and cultivation of medicinal plants, and literary research. Besides, research-oriented health extension services, and information, education and communication (IEC) activities have also been part of the Council’s programmes. Extension of Healthcare services under the scheme of collocation of AYUSH centres in Allopathic Hospital in Delhi, several Unani Medical Centres were established at RML Hospital, DDU Hospital, AIIA and at Safdarjung Hospital.

Applications in the prescribed format are invited for engagement of 4 posts of Junior Research Fellow for Institutes namely National Institute of Siddha, Chennai, Siddha Central Research Institute, Chennai, and Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine, Chennai, on contract basis for the purpose of establishing the Regional Raw Drugs Repository (RRDR – Southern Plateau at National Institute of Siddha).

Brief introduction of Regional Raw Drugs Repository Project
National Institute of Siddha, Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai – 600 047 (Lead Institute), Siddha Central Research Institute (SCRI), Chennai – 600 106 and Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Chennai – 600 013 (Collaborating Institutes) are in the process of establishing the Regional Raw Drugs Repository (RRDR – Southern Plateau). This project is funded by National Medicinal Plants Board, Ministry of AYUSH. The total project duration is 60 months. The field survey and raw material collection will be done by RRIUM. Analytical studies and preparation of monographs will be done by SCRI. All the collected raw material and database will be displayed in NIS.

Junior Research Fellow (Pharmacognosy) - 1 Post (for SCRI)
Qualifications and Experience Essential : MSc in Botany / Medicinal Plants / Plant Sciences or MPharm in Pharmacognosy.
Desirable : Experience in Pharmacognosy / Macro-microscopic techniques and Skill of drafting scientific documents like research papers/monographs.
Age Limit : Not exceeding 28 years as on the last date of receipt of application (relaxable upto five years in case of SC/ST, PwBD and candidates; three years in the case of OBC).
Nature of duties : Macro-microscopical studies, preparation of monographs and Herbarium/ wet sample preservation.
Duration : Initially 1 year; extendable based on performance and coterminous with the project.
Monthly emoluments : Rs. 31,000/- + 24% HRA.

Junior Research Fellow (Botany) - 2 Posts (1 for NIS ; 1 for RRIUM)
For Raw drug Collection & Survey
Qualifications and Experience Essential : M.Sc., in Botany/ Plant Science.
Desirable :
• Experience in Plant Taxonomy with survey and collection of Raw drugs in remote forest areas,
• Working experience in Medicinal Plants, Herbarium processing and documentation, preparation of museum samples.
• Basic knowledge of plant taxonomy, handling knowledge in floras, flora ecological sampling.
• Basic Knowledge in computer application.
• Interest to work in Field survey in remote forest areas to collect raw drugs
Age Limit : Not exceeding 28 years as on the last date of receipt of application (relaxable upto five years in case of SC/ST, PwBD and candidates; three years in the case of OBC).
Nature of Duties : To identify plants, collect raw drugs from remote forest areas, prepare scientific reports on fields or Herbarium Specimens, undertake field excursions in remote forest areas and supervise the work of Field Assistant.
Duration : Initially 1 year; extendable based on performance and coterminous with the project.
Monthly emoluments : Rs 31,000/- + 24% HRA

Junior Research Fellow (Chemistry) - 1 Post (SCRI)
Qualifications and Experience : Essential: MSc in Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry/Organic Chemistry
Desirable: (i) One year of Research/Industrial experience in reputed organization.
(ii) Candidates with experience in handling sophisticated instruments such as UV-Visible spectroscopy/HPLC/ICP-OES etc. will be given preference.
Age Limit : Not exceeding 28 years as on the last date of receipt of application (relaxable upto five years in case of SC/ST, PwBD and candidates; three years in the case of OBC).
Nature of duties : Analytical development pertaining to herbal/minerals/animal origin drug substances and monograph preparation
Duration : Initially 1 year; extendable based on performance and coterminous with the project
Monthly emoluments : Rs. 31,000/- + 24% HRA

Terms and conditions for appointment on contract basis:
1. The application form can be downloaded from our website nischennai.org.
2. The scanned copy of duly filled in application along with certificates in support of Age proof, Educational Qualification, Experience etc., should be sent to the e-mail id: nissiddha@gmail.com with endorsement to crisiddha@gmail.com (CCRS-SCRI) and rriumchennai@gmail.com (RRIUM) on or before 13.10.2020 by 5.00 PM.
3. The date and time of the interview will be informed to the short listed candidates through the e-mail indicated in their application form.
4. Original certificates are required to be produced at the time of interview / joining as the case may be.
5. Mere fulfilling the minimum prescribed qualification and experience will not vest any right to candidate for being called for interview.
6. The Institute reserves the right to cancel or modify this notification without assigning any reason
7. The appointment is purely on contract basis initially for a period of one year; extendable based on performance and coterminous with the project. However the appointment can be terminated at any time by The Director, National Institute of Siddha, Chennai. The appointee shall give at-least one month’s notice for discontinuation.
8. The appointee shall not be entitled to any benefit like PF, Pension, Gratuity, Medical Attendance Treatment, Seniority, Promotion etc or any other benefits as admissible to the regular Government servants.
9. The appointee shall not have any claim or right for regular appointment in their respective Institute.
10. Only consolidated salary will be admissible. No other allowances as applicable to Central Government Servants shall be admissible.

11. Leave shall be 12 days in a calendar year on pro-rata basis besides Govt. Holidays, thereafter remuneration will be deducted on pro-rata basis. Un-availed leave cannot be en-cashed or carried forward.
12. His / Her appointment against the vacancy in the respective Institute is on whole time basis and the appointee shall not accept any other appointment during the period of contract
.
13. The National Institute of Siddha reserves the right not to fill any or all the posts without assigning any reason. The number of vacancies shown is only tentative.
14. No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview.
15. If any declaration or information furnished by the candidate proves to be false or if he/she is found to have will fully suppressed any material information his/her engagement is liable to be terminated forthwith. He / She is also liable for such other action as the Government may deem necessary.
16. Canvassing in any manner will disqualify the candidate.
