The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur was established in the year 1960. The Parliament of India passed the ‘Institutes of Technology Act 1961’ declaring all the IITs as “Institutions of National Importance”. The Parliamentary Act has given absolute autonomy to the IITs. When the foundation stone of the IIT system was laid, it was perceived that taking help from the industrially advanced western countries might be lot more effective in achieving the status of a world class technical institute.

NEF College of Pharmacy, Guwahati established in 2019 is a pristine institute of NEF Group of Colleges run by National Education Foundation Trust, Guwahati. The College aims to provide quality education, training and research in pharmaceutical sciences to meet the needs of students, pharmacists, pharmaceutical organisations and health care professionals.

Higher education in Tripura had a late start. Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College, the first degree college in the State, started functioning under the University of Calcutta only in 1947. Not that there was no attempt in the past in Princely Tripura to establish any higher educational institution. As early as 1901, Radhakishore Manikya made an attempt to establish a degree college in the-then tiny capital town Agartala; but as the proposal did not fulfill the necessary requirements, it did not get approval from the Calcutta University.

Tripura University invites applications from the eligible Indian Nationals for filling up the following vacant teaching posts of Professor, in the Academic Pay Level 14 (Rs. 1,44,200 - 2,18,200) as per the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix, in various departments of the University.

ACCF (Assam Cancer Care Foundation) is a section 8 company and a joint initiative of the Government of Assam and the Tata Trusts, established to create a three-tier comprehensive model serving all sections of society. ACCF is coming up with digitally-enabled, modern cancer hospitals with state-of-the-art technology, which includes radiation equipment, in Tezpur and Barpeta, Assam. These hospitals have an occupancy of 135 beds in Barpeta, and 44 beds in Tezpur.

The history of Jamia Hamdard begins with the establishment of a small Unani clinic in the year 1906 by Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed, one of the well-known practitioners of Unani System of Medicine of his time.  Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed had a vision of making the practice of Unani Medicine into a scientific discipline so that Unani medicines could be dispensed in a more efficacious manner to patients.  He gave the name "Hamdard" to his venture which means "sympathy for all and sharing of pain".  His illustrious son, Hakeem Abdul Hameed, carried forward

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences was established under an Act passed by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in July, 1998.
