Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) is an All-India Entrance Examination to test the eligibility of bonafide Indian nationals for admissions to DBT supported Post Graduate programmes in Biotechnology and allied areas, at Participating Institutions/Universities in India.
Masters degree (M. Sc., M. Tech., M. V. Sc. or M. Pharm) or MBBS, B. Tech (four years) degree in any branch of Life Sciences. Candidates must have CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/INSPIRE NET JRF/UGC-RGNF or any other national research fellowship valid for 05 years.
The overall course curriculum provides an inter-disciplinary perspective of modern biotechnology with high emphasis on laboratory training. On completion of the coursework, the student is required to work on his / her Master s dissertation followed by PhD thesis.
PhD students must complete their thesis work before they are allowed to submit their thesis. Therefore, they may need to fulfill additional credits beyond 100.
Candidates must possess a postgraduate degree in any branch of science, with a strong interest in pursuing research in modern biology at National Centre for Cell Science
Applicant should have a valid National-level Fellowship of any funding agency OR Temporary project staff of AcSIR Associated research institutes Tenable only at MAX-SMAIR and TIGS.
PhD Sciences (Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematical & Information Sciences, Agricultural Sciences): Qualifying degree : A 2-year / 4-semester Masters degree in Science after a 3-year/6-semester Bachelors degree in Science, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point-scale
