The BSBE department at IIT Kanpur is engaged in cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research in biological sciences, bioengineering, and biomedical engineering in the following specialized areas : Antimicrobial resistance, autophagy, biomaterials, biosensors, brain-machine interface, cancer genomics, CAR T cell therapy, computational biology, controlled drug delivery, diabetes and obesity, gene therapy, genetic disorders, GPCRs, host-pathogen interactions, immunotherapeutic, ion channels, metabolic disorders, microbiota, mitochondrial diseases, molecular oncology, neural systems and sensory coding, neuroscience of decision making, neurodegenerative diseases, neuronal development, protein aggregation, skeletal development and osteoarthritis, super- resolution imaging, systems neurophysiology, vaccine development, and virophysics.

4. Students who are in the final year of their programme (likely to finish the programme by July 27, 2026) may also apply and secure provisional admission for the session commencing in July 2026 (2026-27-I Semester).
5. Financial support (Institute Assistantship/Scholarship) will be provided to non-sponsored PhD, MTech and MS (By Research), M.Des students. Withdrawn from the Programme:
1. The last date to withdraw from the offered programme after payment of fees with a deduction of ₹2500/- is July 15, 2026.
2. Withdrawal requests after July 15, 2026 will incur a deduction of 25% of the total fees paid.
3. Withdrawal after reporting to the Institute requires submission of a formal application addressed to the SPGC, clearly stating the reason for withdrawal.
o The application must be forwarded through the concerned department.
o It must be duly signed by the DPGC and Supervisor (if assigned) before processing.
o Refunds will be processed as per DOSA norms.
4. Refund processing will begin after August 24, 2026 and may take up to 21 working days.
