Admission to the Ph.D. Program for the 2026-27 at THSTI

THSTI is committed to conducting innovative translational research and developing research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into products to improve human health.

Applications are invited for the Ph.D. Program under the interdisciplinary areas of Clinical Research & Epidemiology, Virology, Maternal and Child health, Mathematical Biology, Computational Biology, Molecular Microbiology, Diagnostic Innovation, Molecular Diagnostics, Biological Sciences and Chemical Sciences.

THSTI has established various centres namely :
• Centre for Maternal and Child Health
• Centre for Viral Therapeutics and Vaccines
• Centre for Tuberculosis Research
• Centre for Microbial Research
• Centre for Immunobiology and Immunotherapy
• Centre for Drug Discovery
• Clinical Development Services Agency
• Computational and Mathematical Biology Centre
• Centre for Bio-design and Diagnostics

These centres are strengthened by many core facilities namely :
• Bioassay Laboratory
• Biorepository
• Biosafety Level - 3 Lab
• Data Management Centre
• Immunology Core Laboratory
• Multi-OMICS Facility
• Experimental Animal Facility
• Vaccine Design and Development Facility

Minimum Eligibility Criteria :
i. Master's degree/ 4-year Bachelor's degree from a recognised institution in any area of science and technology or M. VSc. Or a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery or an equivalent degree with at least 60% marks
ii. Must hold a 5-year valid national fellowship of UGC, CSIR, ICMR, DBT or NBHM
Note : The validity for activation of the fellowship shall be for a period of at least 4 months from the last date of receipt of application.

Selection Procedure :
i. The shortlisted candidates will be called directly for the interview. The list of selected candidates will be published on the THSTI’s website.
ii. Selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview. The interview will take place at THSTI, NCR - BSC, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad - Gurgaon Expressway, Faridabad - 121001.
iii. No. of seats: 16 (UR: 6; OBC: 3; SC: 2; ST: 3; EWS: 2)
Note - 1 : Those who have obtained fellowship under OBC/ SC/ ST category will be entitled to fill up OBC/ SC/ ST seats respectively. Such candidates must upload their scorecard while filling out the online application form. In case the scorecard is not made available by the exam conducting agency at the time of form submission, it must be produced at the time of the interview.
Note - 2 : The number of vacancies that are actually filled up may be less than the notified number of seats if sufficient suitable candidates are not found.

General Terms & Conditions
i. Candidates appearing in the final examination of their Master’s degree may also apply. However, the result must be declared and the final mark sheet must be produced at the time of the Ph.D. interview.
ii. Reservation policy will be followed as per Government of India norms. SC/ ST/ OBC candidates are required to submit the certificates in respect of their claims from the authorized officers as notified by the Government of India for the purpose from time to time.
iii. The Ph.D. Program at THSTI is governed by RCB rules. For further details, please visit rcb.res.in/.
iv. Admission fees, annual fees, registration fees or any other fees levied by RCB shall be payable by the student.
v. Fee concessions will be provided to SC/ST candidates.
vi. Selected students will have the option of shared hostel accommodation in lieu of their HRA.

How to Apply
i. Documents to be kept handy before filling up the online application (all the documents except
(a) should be in pdf format)
a) A soft copy of your passport size photo and signature (jpeg/ jpg/ png format)
b) A comprehensive CV containing details of qualification/ distinctions, etc.
c) Matriculation certificate (equivalent to 10th Standard)/ Mark sheet
d) Intermediate certificate (equivalent to 12th Standard)/ Mark sheet
e) Graduation/ Diploma degree certificate/ Mark sheet
f) Post-Graduation degree certificate and Mark sheet (if applicable)
g) Copy of Fellowship Award Letter and Score Card
h) Caste / Disability certificate in the format prescribed by the Govt. of India, if applicable

Procedure for filling up online application :
a) The eligible and interested candidates may apply online at the Institute’s website thsti.res.in/en/Jobs. Applications through any other mode will not be accepted.
b) The following will be the step wise procedure:

Step 3 : Payment of application fee
• The payment can be made by using Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Internet Banking/ UPI.
• Once payment is made, no correction/ modification is possible.
• Candidates are requested to keep a copy of the provisional receipt for future reference.
• Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
• Details of fees to be paid are as shown below :
1. Unreserved/ OBC/ EWS : Rs. 236/-
2. SC/ ST/ Women/ PwBD : Rs. 118/-
Step 4 : Submission of application form
c) On successful submission of application, an auto-generated email containing the reference number will be sent to the email address provided. Please keep a note of the reference number for future correspondence.
d) Candidates are required to keep a printout of the online application form by using the print button on the dashboard for future reference.
iii. Candidates must ensure that he/ she fulfils all the eligibility criteria as stipulated in the advertisement. If it is found that he/ she does not fulfil the stipulated criteria during the admission process, the candidature of the candidate will be cancelled. If the same is noticed after the appointment, the candidate will be terminated following due process.
iv. Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected and no correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
