Openings for Drug Inspector in Food and Drug Administration

As per the requisition received from the Department of Medical Education and Drugs, Government of Maharashtra, applications are being invited through the prescribed online mode for the recruitment of a total of 109 posts of Drug Inspector, Group-B, Food and Drug Administration Cadre in the office of the Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, Maharashtra State, Mumbai under the auspices of the Department of Medical Education and Drugs.

Eligibility :-
1. Indian Citizenship.
2. Age Limit (on 01-11-2025) :- 
Minimum Age Limit Open Category / Reservation / EWS : 18 years
Maximum Age Limit Open : 38 year
Reservation & EWS : 43

Educational Qualification:- Possess a Degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Science or Medicine with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology.  
Date of calculation of educational qualification : It is necessary to possess the relevant educational qualification as on the last date prescribed for submission of applications as per the present advertisement.

General:-  
(a) Applications will be accepted online only.

(d) Application will not be considered unless the examination fee is paid within the prescribed time after submission of the application to the Commission. 

General provisions regarding number of posts and reservation:-  
• The details regarding social/parallel reservation of the above subjects/posts to be filled are as per the Government's requisition. Also, there is a possibility of change in the number of posts and reservation mentioned above as per the Government's instructions.  
• If any change in the number of posts and reservation is received from the Government, the information/changes regarding this will be published on the Commission's website from time to time and the recruitment process will be implemented accordingly.  
• Social and parallel reservation for various backward classes, women, accomplished sportspersons, orphans etc. will be as per the orders issued by the Government from time to time.   
• Candidates claiming to belong to Deprived Castes (A), Nomadic Tribes (B), Nomadic Tribes (C) and Nomadic Tribes (D), Special Backward Classes, Socially and Educationally Backward Classes and Other Backward Classes must clearly state in the application that they do not belong to the advanced and advanced persons/groups of the society and must submit a valid non-creamy certificate in the prescribed format issued by the competent authority in this regard.  Government Decision, Women and Child Development Department, No.-Mahiia 2023/Pr.No.123/Karya-2, dated 04 May, 2023, has abolished the condition of submitting non-creamy certificate by unreserved women as well as women belonging to all backward categories for selection to the posts reserved for unreserved women as per the prescribed procedure.
• The provisions regarding submission of non-creamy layer certificate as prescribed by the Other Backward and Bahujan Welfare Department and the General Administration Department from time to time for the concerned backward category women desiring to claim for selection on the reserved posts for women shall remain applicable.  
• If the candidates claiming for the reserved posts for women want to avail the benefit of women's reservation, it is necessary to clearly claim in the application that they are domiciled in Maharashtra and that they fall under the non-creamy layer for all other backward category women excluding Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. 6.8 The posts reserved for Deprived Castes (A), Nomadic Tribes (B), Nomadic Tribes (C) and Nomadic Tribes (D) categories are interchangeable and if suitable and eligible candidates from the respective categories are not available for the reserved post, candidates from the available categories will be considered on the basis of merit as per the latest government policy.  
• At the time of application, only if a caste/tribe has been declared eligible for reservation by the State Government and if the certificate issued by the competent authority is available with the candidate, the candidates of the respective caste/tribe will be eligible for reservation.  
• Regarding parallel reservation, action will be taken as per Government Circular, General Administration Department, No. SRV-1012/Pr.No.16/12/16-A, dated 13th August, 2014 and Government Corrigendum, General Administration Department, No. Sundari-1118/Pr.No.39/16-A, dated 19th December, 2018 and subsequent orders issued by the Government in this regard from time to time.   


• Action will be taken as per Government Decision, General Administration Department, No.: Raadho-4019/Pr.No.31/16-A, dated 12th February, 2019 and dated 31st May, 2021 and subsequent orders issued by the Government in this regard from time to time. Also, it will be mandatory for the candidates claiming Economically Weaker Section status for the present category to submit the Economically Weaker Section Certificate for the financial year 2025-2026.  
• The said advertisement is being published subject to the final judgment in the judicial case filed in the Hon'ble High Court regarding the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Act dated 26th February, 2024 and the relevant Government Decision dated 27th February, 2024. The relevant recommendations and appointments of these advertisements will be made subject to the final judgment in the said judicial case.  Accordingly, the advertisement published by the Commission on April 26, 2024 shall be applicable to the advertisement.  
• Reservation has been prescribed for socially and educationally backward classes as per Government Decision, General Administration Department, No.: BCC/P.Kr.75/16-A, dated February 27, 2024 and it will be necessary to submit the prescribed caste certificate and non-creamy layer certificate as per the instructions given in Government Circular, General Administration Department, No.-BCC-2024/P.Kr.75/Reservation-5, dated June 28, 2024 and dated July 05, 2024.  
• As per the order issued by the Government vide Government Corrigendum, Other Communities Bahujan Welfare Department, No.: Miscellaneous-2023/P.Kr.76/Mavak, dated March 09, 2023, a period will be taken into consideration to verify whether the concerned candidate does not fall under the advanced and advanced persons/group.  It will be mandatory to submit a certificate of not falling under the advanced and advanced category for the financial year 2025-2026 for the present cadre.  
• Action will be taken as per the Government policy regarding consideration of candidates who have availed relaxation in the age limit of the community recognized as backward by the Government for the purpose of service entry for selection on unreserved (open) posts. Details in this regard will be published on the Commission's website from time to time.6.16 All candidates (including Backward Class candidates) will be considered on the basis of merit for recommendation on unreserved (open) general posts.
• The benefit of any type of reservation is admissible only to candidates who are ordinarily residents of Maharashtra. The term ordinarily resident shall have the same meaning as given in section 20 of the Representation of the People of India Act, 1950.  
• It is mandatory for a candidate claiming any type of reservation (social or parallel) or concessions to have a valid certificate in the prescribed format as per the relevant law/rule/order as per the advertisement. The validity of the valid certificates will be considered as per the provisions of the relevant government order (as applicable).  
• The recruitment process will be subject to the final decision of the cases filed in various courts regarding social and parallel reservation.  

Selection Process:-
1. The educational qualification mentioned in the present advertisement is the minimum and the candidate will not be eligible to be called for interview just because he/she possesses the minimum qualification.
2. If the number of applications received pursuant to the advertisement exceeds the reasonable limit as per the provisions of the Commission's Rules of Procedure and it is not convenient to interview all the eligible candidates who have submitted their applications, the number of candidates eligible for interview shall be limited on the basis of appropriate criteria as per the educational qualification mentioned in the advertisement or through a screening test in order to limit the number of candidates for interview.
3. If it is decided to conduct a screening test, the educational qualification shall not be relaxed.
4. If a screening test is conducted, the minimum percentile qualification shall be applicable as per the provisions of the Commission's Rules of Procedure.
5. The syllabus of the screening test, medium of examination and other details (if applicable) shall be published on the Commission's website.
6. If a screening test is conducted, the marks of the screening test and the interview marks shall be considered together and if there is no screening test, the candidate shall be recommended only on the basis of the interview marks.
7. Only candidates who secure at least 41% and above marks in the interview will be considered for recommendation.
8. The selection process for the present post will be implemented as per the Drug Inspector Group-B, Medical Education and Pharmaceuticals Department Service Admission Rules 2024 and the Rules of Procedure / Procedure as amended by the Commission from time to time.
9. While preparing the final recommendation list, the ranking of candidates holding the same marks will be determined as per the provisions of the Commission's gazette dated September 12, 2022.


Method of Application:-
• Steps for submitting the application:-
• Register and create an account (Profile) if you have not registered in the prescribed manner on the Commission's online application system earlier.
• Update the account if it has been created and if it needs to be updated.12.1.3 For completing the KYC of the candidate's account on the Commission's online application system website, a separate period will be provided to complete the procedure as per the prescribed procedure vide the Commission's gazette No. ADR-2425/C.R.06/2025/M.T., dated 20th June 2025. It will be mandatory to complete the KYC process of the account within the said period.
• Submit the application by uploading the necessary documents within the prescribed period and in the prescribed manner.
• Make the payment of the examination fee in the prescribed manner.
• Upload the prescribed certificates/documents.

Fees (Rupees):-  
(i) Unreserved (Open) : Rs. 394/-  
(ii) Backward Classes / Economically Weaker Sections / Orphans / Disabled : Rs. 294/-  
(iii) In addition to the above examination fee, bank charges and taxes payable thereon will be additional.  
(iv) Examination fee is non-refundable.  
After completing the application submission steps, the examination fee can be paid by clicking on the 'Submit and Pay fees' button available or by clicking on the ' link ' opposite the advertisement/post/examination where the current status is written as 'Fees not Paid' in the list of applied posts under the heading 'Home Page Account'. 

Examination fee can be paid in the following two ways:-
Online:-
(1) The examination fee can be paid through credit card, debit card or net banking through State Bank of India as well as any of the payment gateways provided by the system.
(2) While paying the examination fee, after the examination fee amount is deducted from the bank account, the message stating that the examination fee payment has been successful (Payment Successful) is displayed on the Commission's online application system page and the examination fee receipt is generated, the candidate should not log out from the relevant page on the website and/or the account.
(3) After paying the examination fee, the candidate will immediately know the status of the examination fee payment in his profile whether it has been successful or not. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure that the examination fee has been paid successfully and the transaction has been completed by the bank before logging out of the account.
(4) If for any reason the payment of the examination fee is not successful within the prescribed period, a copy of the challan can be taken for payment of the examination fee offline up to two days after the last date of application.

Offline method (through challan):-
If the option of payment of the examination fee is chosen, the examination fee can be paid by taking a copy of the challan available at any branch of the State Bank of India during the office hours of the bank before the prescribed last date. However, it should be ensured that there will be a minimum period of three hours between taking the copy of the challan and depositing the fee in the bank.
• If the payment of the examination fee is not successful, the action of paying the fee again or taking the challan must be taken before the prescribed date in accordance with the present advertisement/notification. If the transaction fails for any reason, the Commission will not entertain any complaint in this regard.
• Candidates who are unable to pay the examination fee within the prescribed time will not be considered for the relevant recruitment process.  It would be in the interest of the candidates to refer to the relevant provisions of the General Instructions to Candidates on the Commission's website in this regard.
