AICTE SPONSORED QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology has been organizing the Quality Improvement Programme for last six years. QIP 2014 would be seventh in this series.
QIP 2014 comprise of three programmes of two weeks duration each.

1. Pharmaceutics & Pharmacology Division: Biopharmaceutics principles and its total aspects are utilized in rational drug design in drug delivery system and also to optimize the therapeutic efficacy of the drug in the patient. In clinical practice, pharmacokinetic principles are primarily used to characterize the relationships between drug dose and drug concentration–time profile. Attainment of the correct dosage regimen is of fundamental importance to maximize therapeutic efficacy and minimize toxicity. Thus the pharmacokinetic studies are a necessity in formulation development to provide desired therapeutic activity and safety for the patient. Recently significant advancement has been made in Pharmacokinetics and its application too. In this QIP emphasis will be given to Recent Advances in Biopharmaceutics and its applications in Bioavailability and Bioequivalence studies.

2. Pharmaceutical Chemistry Division: The process of drug discovery revolves around identifying one molecule among millions of candidate molecules, followed by synthesis, characterization, screening and assay for therapeutic efficacy. There is need of wide range of automated instruments to increase the throughput across all stages of drug discovery. This program will cover the chronological development in the area of Instrumental Drug Analysis with special reference to basics, working principle, method development / validation and regulatory requirements besides modern hyphenated techniques.

3. Pharmacognosy Division: The biotechnology has a great role to play to improve the basic research in relation to pharmacognosy. Today the enormous utility and success of the 'Plant Tissue Cultures' in bio production of a host of natural bio medicinal under stringent aseptic laboratory / pilot–scale conditions has virtually opened up several new approaches in the ever-expanding new era of biotechnology. Application of tissue -culture technique exclusively for carrying out the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites having pharmaceutical importance and significance, musters an excellent promise for the generation of need-based plant constituents. These aspects will be covered in programme.
