The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a growing phenomenon. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, RGCB began in 1990 amongst humble surroundings as a small charitable society called the Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (C-DEST). In 1991, recognizing its potential, the C-DEST was made a "Grant-in-Aid" institute of the Government of Kerala and renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (RGC-DEST), becoming the first institute in the country to be named after Sri Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minster of India.

Raghavendra Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (RIPER) is synonymous with high quality of Pharmacy education. The institute was established in the year of 2002 under Raghavendra Educational and Rural Development Society (RERDS) with Reg. No.198 /2001. The RIPER institute offered courses are D. Pharmacy, B. Pharmacy, M. Pharmacy, Pharm. D, Pharm. D (P.B), Ph. D (full time) programmes. RIPER is an Autonomous institute and the awarding University is of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA), Anantapuramu, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), and Government of Andhra Pradesh and other recognized statutory bodies.

Central University of Gujarat (CUG) was established under the Central Universities Act, 2009 (No. 25 of 2009) to generate and disseminate advanced knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities, promoting innovation in teaching-learning process and research, establishing linkages with industries for application of science and technology and educate and train human resources for the development of the country. The University has territorial jurisdiction over the whole of the State of Gujarat and admits students on all-India basis. National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi is an Autonomous Research Institution funded by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, to pursue research on various aspects of plant genomics. The Institute is also in the process of establishing a NIPGR Translational Centre at Biotech Science Cluster, NCR, Faridabad. The Government of India has declared NIPER as an 'Institute of National Importance'. It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India.

NIAB, an autonomous institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for impr oving animal health and productivity. The Institute’s research focus is on animal genetics and genomics, transgenic technology, reproductive technology, infectious diseases, nutritional enrichment, and bioinformatics. The Institute aims at translational research leading to genetic enhancement of Indian Livestock species and development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals.

CSIR - Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI) is a premier research organization under the Council of Scientific and Industrial research (CSIR). We are engaged in exciting research pertaining to understanding the disease biology of microbial and parasitic infections, ageing and metabolic diseases (including cancer) and discovery and development of therapeutic interventions against these diseases. CSIR-CDRI is a thriving institute with a wide range of expertise, infrastructure and a research-supportive environment.

The first hospital associated with King George's Medical University was built in 1914, and was called King George Hospital. The funds allocated to the college could hardly be expected to cover the cost of a hospital on a comparable scale. Thus this task was undertaken by the Government of India. The building was again designed by Sir Swinton Jacob after making a spot study of great medical centres in Europe and adapting it the needs of this country.
