National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, Guwahati (NIPER-G) is an autonomous institute of National importance and the first national pharma institute in NE India set up by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers, Govt. of India by an Act of Parliament, to impart high quality Education & Research in the area of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Post : Senior Research Fellow (SRF-02 posts)

The Institute intends to fill the following Project position in a CCRAS-sponsored project titled “Evaluation of antipyretic and anti-asthmatic activity of the Ayurvedic formulation. AYUSH GBP and AYUSH CPP in experimental models” through Online/ Physical Interview.

Fellowship : Rs. 42,000/- + 20% HRA

Age Limit : 32 years as on the last date of application, relaxable by up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC, physically handicapped and women applicants.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential : The candidate must possess an M.S./M.Pharm. degree in Medicinal Chemistry/Natural Products/Pharmacology and Toxicology/Regulatory Toxicology/Life Sciences/Biotechnology or equivalent from a PCI/AICTE/UGC/NAAC recognised or accredited University/Central Autonomous Institute, with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade. The candidate must have qualified the GPAT/GATE/CSIR-NET or any other National-level entrance examination conducted by a Central Government agency, and the qualification must be valid at the time of the interview/selection process.

Desirable : a) Candidates should have demonstrated experience in natural products isolation, purification, and characterisation, along with expertise in analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC- MS/MS/Mass Spectrometry, and NMR. A proven track record of relevant research publications is desirable.
b) Candidates should have experience in handling animal cell culture and molecular biology techniques, including. RT-PCR, Western Blotting, Flow Cytometry and related methods. Experience in laboratory animal handling and in vivo experimentation, particularly in the area of COPD, asthma or other respiratory disease models is highly desirable. A proven track record of relevant research publications is desirable.

Note : Two Senior Research Fellow SRF positions are available. One may be filled by a candidate with qualifications described under (a) and the other by a candidate with the qualifications described under
(b). Alternatively, both positions may be filled from either category, depending on the qualifications and the experience of the applicants. The selection committee will make the final decision based on the suitability of the candidates.

Since all applications will be screened on the basis of data submitted by the candidate in the online application form, candidates must satisfy themselves of their suitability for the position to which they are applying. If at any stage of the recruitment and selection process it is found that candidates have furnished false or incorrect information, their candidature will be rejected.

6. On the recommendation of the Screening/Selection Committee, the competent authority may relax all or any of the requirements related to age and experience in exceptionally meritorious cases.

7. Fulfilment of qualifications and experience is an essential requirement. As stated, the Institute is free to set the benchmark and call only the eligible candidates for the online interview. Further, NIPER Guwahati also reserves the right NOT to fill any of the posts advertised, in the event of exigency so decided.

9. In case any dispute arises on account of the interpretation of clauses in any version of this Advertisement other than English, the English version available on the NIPER-G Website shall prevail.
10. CANVASSING IN ANY FORM MAY LEAD TO CANCELLATION OF THE CANDIDATE.
11. All appointments shall be on contract for one Year and may be extended for another year based on the performance of the candidate as well as availability of the funds and tenure of the project. The appointments are for the temporary project positions and will not continue beyond the duration of the said project. Any subsequent contract in the project or another project will be a fresh appointment. The appointment in the outside-funded project does not give project staff any claim whatsoever for appointment/regularisation against any Institute.
12. The candidates are required to submit the application along with relevant certificates like Date of Birth certificate, PhD degree, post- graduation, experience certificates, caste certificate (only reserved candidates) as well as GPAT/GATE/NET etc. on or before 14.08.2026
13. Age will be calculated as on the last date of application, i.e., 14.08.2026.
14. The list of the Shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the Institute website.
15. The selected candidates are entitled to leaves as per the rules of the NIPERG. No other allowances are admissible during the contractual period.
