Merck Limited (formerly E. Merck Limited) was set up in India as the first Merck subsidiary in Asia in 1967.  The Company operates both its Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals businesses in the country. Merck was also the first Merck Group Company to go public in the year 1981.  The Merck Group now holds 51% of the share capital in Merck Limited, while the remaining 49% is traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd. and National Stock Exchange of India Ltd.  Merck Specialities Pvt. The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) has been established as an autonomous Institution underthe aegis of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India primarily with the objectives ofregularly updating the Indian Pharmacopoeia (an official book for setting standards of drugs in the Country) by publishing new edition and its addenda, from time to time; National Formulary of India(reference book for rational use of generic medicines) and carrying out other related tasks such asproviding Reference Substances to the stakeholders and conducting skill development programmes. TheCommission also functions as National Coordination Centres (NCC) for Pharmacovigilance Programmeof India (PvPl) and Materiovigilance Programme of India (MvPI) for ensuring safety of patients/drugs andmedical devices, respectively, in the Country.

Mumbai Districts AIDS Control Society (MDACS) is an autonomous body registered under Charitable Trust Act, established on 27th July 1998 by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) for control & prevention of HIV/AIDS in Mumbai. Mumbai reported its first AIDS case in 1986. The City's health department responded promptly by undertaking serological surveys among sex workers, screening of blood for HIV in blood banks and setting up treatment centers in Medical Colleges.

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health.  PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders.

CSIR- National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow, a premier plant science research institute under Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), is involved in multidisciplinary R&D programmes of both basic and applied nature across scientific disciplines for economic, environmental and societal benefits for the people of India. Reddy’s active involvement in the pharmaceutical services he established ‘Acharya and B M Reddy College of Pharmacy’ during 1992, located at Soldevanahalli, Bangalore. The National Institute of Virology is one of the major Institutes of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). It was established at Pune, Maharashtra State in 1952 as Virus Research Centre (VRC) under the auspices of the ICMR and the Rockefeller Foundation (RF), USA. It was an outcome of the global programme of the RF for investigating the Arthropod Borne viruses. Since the studies on arboviruses and their arthropod vectors involve most of the basic principles and techniques of general virology, entomology and zoology, these viruses were also considered to be an ideal group, to begin with, for intensive training and research in virology in our country. The RF withdrew its support in 1967 and since then the Institute is entirely funded by the ICMR.
