For a long time Gujarat State Pharmacy Council (GSPC) had been receiving so many doubtful applications for registration of pharmacist. There were so many irregularities found in studies, study after a long age gap, and 10th and 12th science done from UP board or Open Board and the taking admission in Diploma Pharmacy.
A committee of Gujarat State Pharmacy Council found some sort of Malpractices while verifying such applications at the college venue personally. So Gujarat State Pharmacy Council filed a case in CID against these colleges and students who were awarded the Diploma Pharmacy without attending the colleges.
Gujarat State Pharmacy Council submitted a detailed report to Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and requested to verify and inspect all such colleges in concern with malpractices. Also Mr. Montukumar M. Patel President Gujarat State Pharmacy Council and Member of Pharmacy Council of India and Other Members of PCI from Gujarat Dr. C. N. Patel and Dr. Navin Seth suggested PCI to take some steps against such Colleges.
Eventually, PCI Conducted a surprise inspection of these colleges and It was found that some colleges don't follow the Education Regulation Act, 1991 and the minimum teacher qualifications Rules in pharmacy, 2014. So a decision was taken in central council meeting 108 at Raipur that the admissions for academic year 2020-2021 must be stopped in Following colleges;
1) Pacific College of Pharmacy, Udaipur
2) Pacific Institute of Pharmacy, Udaipur
3) Sunrise college of Pharmacy, alwar, Jaipur
4) Malwa College of Pharmacy, Bhatinda, Punjab
Also these colleges were issued a Show cause notice of why not to cancel their permission under section 13.
Also, PCI has given a circular to all Pharmacy Colleges of India to start Biometric attendance of Students so that such Malpractices cannot be repeated.
Mr. Montukumar M. Patel President Gujarat State Pharmacy Council and Mr. Vijay Patil, President of Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council, also strongly demanded in the PCI meeting that the regulations for Exit Exam should be brought in action at the earliest possible.
