Soban Singh Jeena University (hereafter referred to as SSJ University), Almora, a residential cum affiliating University, came into existence on 14 August, 2020,vide notification No. 168/XXXVI(3)/2020/77/2019 dated June 22, 2020 under the Uttarakhand Act No. 19 of 2020,as a result of persistent demands from the residents of the interior regions for a seperate University. It was carved out of Kumaun University,Nainital of which it had been a campus for more than four decades, with colleges of districts Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat and Pithoragarh falling under its jurisdiction. It has been named after renowned lawyer turned political leader and social reformer of the region, Sri Soban Singh Jeena.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the vacant posts of Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor / in various teaching Departments of the University on a regular basis. Applications are invited from 11/02/2026 to 02/03/2026, along with self-attested copies of the documents. The application must reach the office of the Registrar, Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora, Uttarakhand, Pin-263601, by speed post only on or before 02/03/2026 (05 PM).

General Information And Instructions
1. The Candidate must be citizen of India.
2. Candidates are requested to carefully read the General Information & Instructions before filling up the Online Application Form. Candidates are also advised to visit the University website or portal (www.ssju.ac.in) periodically for further information related to the recruitment process.
3. THE UNIVERSITY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO:-
a. Withdraw any advertised post(s) at any time without assigning any reason thereof.
b. Not to fill up any of the advertised positions.
c. Increase or decrease the number of posts of professor. associate professor, assistant professor as and when required. If any, a notice will be uploaded to the website or portal for information.
4. ELEGIBILITY CRITERIA: The qualifications for the advertised teaching positions shall be in accordance to “UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education 2018” (hereinafter referred to as UGC Regulations-2018) and its subsequent amendments issued, published in the Gazette of India, and are subject to any future Regulations/Norms, including amendments in the present regulations stipulated by the NCTE, BCI etc.
5. Candidates who have been awarded Ph.D. degree from a foreign University should enclose the “Equivalence Certificate” issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi without which their candidature will not be considered, and the application will be rejected.
6. The educational qualifications, experience, and other eligibility conditions as stipulated in the advertisement shall be determined as on the closing date for submission of the application.
7. Applicants are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess the essential Qualifications as laid down in the advertisement and as per UGC Regulations -2018.
8. Application submitted without the necessary supporting / verifiable documents, self-attested copies of degree, certificates, mark sheets, experience certificate, category certificate (if applicable), publications, teaching/research experience issued by the competent authority and the incomplete applications shall be rejected summarily.
9. Each research score claimed by the Candidate must be supported by the documentary evidence, which will be objectively verifiable, without which no claim on account of research score would be entertained.
10. The prescribed qualifications/experience are the minimum, and mere possession of and fulfillment of the essential and desirable qualifications do not entitle the candidates to be called for the Interview.


11. Application fees to be submitted through online via. NEFT/RTGS, Net banking, Debit/Credit Card, UPI.No other mode of fees payment will be accepted. details of fees are as follows:
i. For General category INR. 2000.00
ii. For SC/ST/OBC/PwD category INR. 1000.00
iii. Ac/ No. in which the fee must be submitted through online only-

Note- The receipt of the fee submitted, must be attached with the application form and the details must be filled accordingly in Para- 24.
12. Once the application fee is paid, it shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
13. Original certificates should be produced at the time of Document Verification before the Interview.
14. Eligible candidates must ensure that their applications reach the “Registrar, Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora, Uttarakhand, India, Pin code-263601” on or before the last date i.e. 02/03/2026, up to 5 PM only through Speed Post.
15. The envelope must be marked with “Application for the post   ,
Department , Subject  on the top left corner (without any fold). The
University will not be responsible for any postal delay. Further, the application must contain the following details.
16. Incomplete applications or applications received after the last date shall not be considered. University shall not be liable for any postal delay.
17. In case the last date fixed for receipt of applications is declared a holiday, the next working day shall be deemed to be the last date for receipt of the forms.
18. The reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Female/PwD candidates will be as per the prevalent Rules/orders/notifications of the Govt. of Uttarakhand only. Candidates applying under the quota reserved for persons with disabilities should indicate whether they belong to the SC/ST/OBC or General Category. SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy Layer), PwD candidates must enclose with the application a copy of the Caste Certificate/Medical Certificate on the prescribed Format of the Uttarakhand State Government, duly issued by the competent authority of Uttarakhand State only.
19. OBC (Non-creamy Layer) candidates are required to submit a valid Certificate in the prescribed Format, issued by the competent authority of the Uttarakhand State only.
20. The appointment under the reserved category shall be provisional and subject to verification through the proper channels. If the verification reveals that the claim of the Candidate to a particular category is false, his or her services will be terminated forthwith without assigning any further reasons and without prejudice to such further action as may be taken as per the law for production of false certificates.

21. A candidate already in employment must submit the application through the proper channel. However, the Candidate may send an advance copy of the application and produce the ‘No Objection Certificate’ at the time of the Interview. If NOC is not enclosed with the application, the Candidate must attach a copy of the application submitted to his/her employer, along with other documents. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the current employer at the time of the Interview should be placed, failing which he or she will not be allowed to appear before the selection committee.
22. Any document submitted after the Last Date shall not be accepted for any purpose, except for the ‘No Objection Certificate’ that may be produced at the Time of Interview.
23. The University will call the Candidates for an interview on the recommendations of the Screening Committee, constituted by the competent authority.
24. The Candidate shall be informed about the activities/information related to the recruitment process and the Interview by email. Simultaneously, the information will also be displayed on the University website at ssju.ac.in. The candidates are advised, in their own interest, to mention their correct mobile no. and email IDs in the application and ensure that these remain valid till the completion of the recruitment process. Thus, the candidates are advised to visit the University website on a regular basis for updates, and are also requested to mention their valid email ID in the application form.
25. Shortlisted candidates are required to bring all original documents to the Interview for verification. In case the Candidate fails to produce the claimed documents, his or her claim will be rejected.
26. The University shall verify the antecedents/documents submitted by the candidates at the time of appointment and/or at any time during the tenure of service. If it is determined that the submitted documents are fake or that the Candidate has clandestine antecedents/background and has suppressed the said information, his/ her services shall be terminated forthwith.
27. It will be mandatory for the Candidate to submit the certificate of fitness for service issued by the medical board.
28. In case of selection, the original certificate of the relevant educational qualification, along with the caste certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates), will have to be presented before the University authority.
29. In case of any dispute, any suit and/or legal proceedings by or against the University, the Hon’ble High Court of Uttarakhand shall have jurisdiction.
