Post : Junior Research Fellow/Project Associate-I (One position only)
Applications are invited for the one position of Junior Research Fellow (Project)/Project Associate-I for the following time-bound sponsored projects as per the details given below
Name of the project & Duration of the Project : “Whole Genome Sequencing of MTB Clinical Strains for Determining Drug Resistance and Strain lineage in India: A structured Nationwide approach” funded by DBT Tenable till – 05.10.2026

Educational Qualifications : M.Sc. (Bioinformatics/Biophysics/Biochemistry/Biotechnology) or Master’s degree in any other stream of biological/physical/computational sciences or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine or Equivalent. Must have qualified GATE or NET JRF or equivalent national level fellowship examination for JRF position. Candidates without GATE or NET-JRF will be recruited as PROJECT ASSOCIATE-I as per DST scale.
Desirable : Work experience in the area of Bioinformatics/IT/Computer Applications. Strong computer programming skills (in PERL/Python or C++ or object-oriented database management systems like MySQL etc. or scripting languages under LINUX/UNIX environment). Candidates with experience in development of LLM, RAG, ChatBot etc. are encouraged to apply.
Job Description : Installation/support of public domain softwares for AI/ML applications in biology in LINUX environment. Development of dashboards and portals. Development of Indian Tuberculosis Genome Sequencing/Surveillance (InTGS) web portal frontend and backend database/script development in LINUX environment using open-source resources. Integration of web portal with public domain dashboard tools and Application Program Interface (API) tools
Emoluments : The selected candidates will draw consolidated emoluments as per Institute rules, depending upon qualifications & experience:
JRF : Rs 37,000/- consolidated p.m. plus 27% HRA (As per DST OM dated 26.06.2023)
PA-I : Rs 25,000/- consolidated p.m. plus 27% HRA (As per DST OM dated 10.07.2020)
General Terms & Conditions
1. The candidates selected for the above posts will be on contract for one year or till the duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time.
2. No hostel/ housing facility will be provided.
3. Applicants may clearly mention the category they belong to i.e. SC/ST/OBC/PH and attach documentary proof of the same.
4. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview, if called for.
5. Apart from sending application in the prescribed format given below, candidates should send complete Curriculum Vitae along with the names of three referees. Curriculum Vitae should contain details of the experimental expertise and list of publications.
6. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
7. The interviews will be held in offline/online mode.
