Job Purpose : The objective of the Postdoctoral Teaching and Research Fellow is to recruit recently graduated Ph.D candidates to support on-campus teaching, laboratory instructions, handling lab sessions, research initiatives, and institutional contributions. PDTRF intends to allow fresh Ph.D graduates to build their careers to compete effectively for high-caliber academic positions. PDTRF will be able to gain teaching experience and participate in professional development focused on undergraduate and post-graduate instruction and research.

Educational qualification : PhD in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or any allied discipline with demonstrated wet lab experience in molecular biology techniques. PhD candidates should have successfully defended their Ph.D. Thesis. Postdoctoral Fellows with self-funded research projects are highly encouraged to apply. 

Experience : Freshly graduated. 1 - 2 years of laboratory teaching / teaching experience desirable.

Key Responsibility Areas
The selected PDTRF are expected to work for the Teaching, Lab-based courses and Research Projects. 
Laboratory Operations 
• PDTRF will focus on major department lab courses and research themes. 
• PDTRF will coordinate with faculty lab-in-charge and lab-instructors for laboratory session instruction, conducting practical sessions and evaluations. 
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including equipment maintenance and inventory management. 
• Course content development for new and advanced lab-based courses
• Develop laboratory, experimental design, and implement protocols to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with technical staff to maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Monitor and optimize the use of shared resources and laboratory space. 

Laboratory Instruction
• Teach and support laboratory courses by delivering lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on guidance.
• Assist in the preparation and execution of laboratory experiments for undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
• Evaluate student performance through lab reports, quizzes, and practical assessments.
• Foster a collaborative and engaging learning environment.


Mentorship and Training
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in laboratory techniques and research methodologies.
• Provide guidance on best practices for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Conduct training sessions for lab users on equipment operation and safety protocols.

Curriculum and Experiment Development
• Collaborate with faculty to design, refine, and update laboratory exercises and course content.
• Integrate innovative tools and methods into the instructional program to enhance learning outcomes.

Research and Professional Development
• Assist in the preparation of Research Grant proposals and progress reports.
• PDTRF are highly encouraged to conduct independent research.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
• Present findings at scientific conferences and seminars.
• Identify potential funding sources for future research.

Collaboration and Mentorship
• Work collaboratively within the lab and with external collaborators.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students as needed.

Competencies Required
They will regularly work with faculty members, contribute to lab course(s) delivery, lab operations, assist in student supervision in the lab in their respective departments, and conduct research. PDTRF will coordinate with faculty lab-in-charge and lab-instructors for laboratory session instruction, conduct practical sessions and evaluations. In addition, highly encouraged to conduct independent research, submit research proposals, and assist the department faculty in coordination with HoD in the ongoing research. PDTRF will focus on major department lab courses and research themes. The respective department will identify areas of scope for all the core laboratory-based courses. PDTRF supports the lab instructions, operations, management, and evaluations, and in addition, they support strengthening the department research themes.

Well-versed in laboratory equipment for Biotechnology
• Familiar with software pertaining to Biotechnology
• Ability to learn and gain expertise in new experimental methods
• Knowledge and training in safety practices used in laboratories
• Knowledge in record keeping of inventories
• Knowledge in MS excel, word, power point etc.
• Ability to transcend into cross-cultural environment

Tenure of Postdoctoral Teaching and Research Fellow (PDTRF) 
PDTRF tenure will be for a limited period of 2 years (subject to annual review recommendations). The possibility of renewal is to a maximum total of 4 years based on continued exemplary performance.
