CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) invites applications from enthusiastic young and dynamic Indian Nationals having experience and the ability to undertake Technical/Supporting jobs to help in R&D activities of Scientists for the posts as detailed below

Position No. 1&2: Technical Assistant (Physics)
in Pay Band-2 Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs 4200/- (02 posts Reserved for OBC)

Essential Qualification : Ist Class B.Sc. with Physics from a Recognized University with one Year full time professional qualification in Analytical/Instrumentation/Lab. Techniques from a recognized Institute/ Organisation.
Desirable Qualification: M.Sc. Degree in Physics
Job requirement : Operation and maintenance of sophisticated instruments, like NMR, Mass, GC-MS, LC-MS etc.
Age limit : Upto 28 years ((Upper age limit relaxable upto 3 years for OBC applicants)

Position No. 3: Technical Assistant (Chemistry )
in Pay Band-2 Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs 4200/- (01 post Reserved for SC)
Essential Qualification : Ist Class B.Sc. with Chemistry from a recognized University with one year full time professional qualification in Analytical/Instrumentation/Lab. Techniques from a recognized Institute/ Organisation.
Desirable Qualification : M.Sc. Degree in Chemistry
Job requirement: To help the Scientists in the extraction, isolation, purification, chemical transformation and scaling up of natural products.
Age limit : Upto 28 years (Upper Age relaxable upto 5 years for SC applicants).

Position No. 4: Technical Assistant (Chemistry )
in Pay Band-2 Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs 4200/- (01 post Reserved for OBC)
Essential Qualification: Ist Class B.Sc. with Chemistry from a recognized University with one year full time professional qualification Analytical/Instrumentation/Lab. Techniques from a recognized Institute/ Organisation.

Essential Qualification : Ist Class B.Sc. with Chemistry from a recognized University with one year full time professional qualification in Analytical/Instrumentation/Lab. Techniques from a recognized Institute/ Organisation.
Desirable Qualification : M.Sc. Degree in Organic Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry.
Job requirement : To work in Chemistry laboratory in the area of natural products/phytochemistry, synthetic/semi-synthetic chemistry and analytical chemistry using modern sophisticated instruments like GC, HPLC, UV-Vis spectrophotometer etc. and to assist in in-house/external funded R & D projects.
Age limit : Upto 28 years.

Position No.6: Technical Assistant (Animal Sciences)
in Pay Band-2 Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs 4200/- ( 01 post Reserved for SC)
Essential Qualification : Ist Class B.Sc. with Zoology/Animal sciences from a recognized University with one year full time professional qualification in Medical Lab. Techniques from a recognized Institute/Organisation.
Desirable Qualification : M.Sc. Degree in Zoology
Job requirement : To help Scientists in testing of samples for anti-microbial and anti-malarial testing, maintain cell, microbial and parasite cultures. Assist Scientist in sample collection & biochemical analysis along with breeding and maintenance of laboratory animals.
Age limit : Upto 28 years (Upper Age relaxable upto 5 years for SC applicants).

Position No. 7,8,9&10: Technical Assistant (Agriculture & Soil Science)
in Pay Band-2 Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs 4200/- (04 posts Unreserved-UR). Place of Posting:- 01 post for CRC Purara, 01 post for CRC Pantnagar,01 post for CRC Hyderabad & 01 post for CRC Bangalore
Essential Qualification :Ist Class B.Sc. in Agriculture from a recognized University with one year full time professional qualification in Horticulture/Agricultural Extension from a recognized Institute/Organisation.
Desirable Qualification : Ist Class M.Sc. with Specialization in Soil Science or Agronomy.
Job requirement :Assistance in conducting field experiments, data collection, MAPs survey in farmers’ field, field maintenance, soil analysis, training and demonstration programme, data recording analysis and to assist Scientist in conducting field experiments in the area of Agronomy and also extension of medicinal and aromatic plants.
Age limit : Upto 28 years.

Position No. 11: Technical Assistant (Planning & Project Monitoring)
in Pay Band-2 Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs 4200/- (01 post Unreserved-UR)
Essential Qualification : Ist Class B.Sc. with Botany and Chemistry from a recognized University with one year full time professional qualification in Computer Application/Project Management/Documentation/ Information Science from a recognized Institute/ Organisation.
Desirable Qualification:
1. Experience/Training/Diploma in handling computer databases and applications, information searching, patent related search, etc.
2. Experince in complication, editing and repackaging of scientific information.
3. Proven efficiency in reading and writing in English language.
Job requirement :
1. To assist in Project Monitoring and Management activities.
2. Scientific maintenance of project records as per guidelines received from time to time.
3. Help in preparing five year plan documents, preparing projects reports and project progress reports.
Age limit : Upto 28 years .

Position No.12: Technical Assistant (Farm Operation)
in Pay Band-2 Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs 4200/- (01 post Unreserved-UR)
Essential Qualification:
Ist Class B.Sc. in Botany/Plant Science/Agricultre/Horticulture from a recognized University with one year full time professional qualification in Horticulture/Agricultural Extension from a recognized Institute/Organisation.
Desirable Qualification :
1. One or two years experience in farm management.
2. Knowledge of computer.
Job requirement : To assist in management of R&D farm, technology demonstration plots and processing units and assistance in technology/transfer.
Age limit : Upto 28 years.

DEFINITIONS OF THE PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED PERSONS
1. Visually handicapped persons are those who suffer from either of the following conditions:-
a) Total absence of sight;
b) Visually acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with correcting lenses;
c) Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of 20 degrees or worse.

2. Hearing handicapped persons are those in whom the sense of hearing is non-functional for ordinary purposes of life. They do not hear, understand sounds at all even with amplified speech. The cases included in this category will be those having hearing loss more than 90 decibels in the better ear (profound impairment) or total loss of hearing in both ears.

3. Orthopaedically handicapped are those who have a minimum of 40% of physical defect or deformity which causes an interference with the normal functioning of the bones, muscles and joints.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:
(1)All the posts carry usual allowances at the same rates as are admissible to the Central Government employees at the place of posting. Higher initial pay could be considered for exceptionally meritorious and deserving candidates on the basis of recommendations of the Selection Committee. (2) The selected candidates will be governed by the provisions of the New Pension Scheme as introduced by the Government of India and as adopted by CSIR effective from 01.01.2004. (3) Persons employed in Government/Government undertakings/Autonomous bodies are required to submit their applications through proper channel and with a clear certificate from respective employee that the applicant will be relieved in case of selection, within one month of receipt of offer of appointment. (4) Persons desirous to apply for more than one post may submit separate application for each post with separate application fee. (5) The selected persons should be ready to serve at any of the offices/Research Centres of CSIR-CIMAP located at Lucknow, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pantnagar, Purara (Distt. Bageshwar) or at any place of posting in India as per need of CSIR-CIMAP R&D activities. (6) Upper age limit is relaxable as indicated against the post. (7) Relaxation in age limit up to five years may be allowed to the Council/Government/Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Government of India from time to time in this regard. (8)Relaxaton of upper age limit for Ex-servicemen is admissible as per rules. (9) Relaxation in the upper age limit of 5 years is applicable for persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the State of J&K during the period of 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 subject to production of relevant certificate from concerned authority. (10) Relaxation in the upper age limit for Physically Handicapped persons will be as per rule. (11) Special Age Relaxation upto the age of 40 years in the case of Widows, Divorced Women and Women Judicially separated from their husbands, who are not re-married. (12) Relaxation in age, qualification and/or experience may be permitted if sufficient number of candidates possessing the requisite qualification and/or experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts. (13) SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates are required to produce the certificate in the prescribed format signed by the specified authority at time of interview. The OBC candidate should produce the certificate valid for appointment of posts under the Central Government. (14) The upper age limit will be reckoned as on 14th September, 2012 which is relaxable as per Government orders in force from time to time. (15) The period of experience in the requisite discipline/area of work wherever prescribed, shall be counted with effect from the date of acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualifications required for the post. (16) The cut off date for determining the qualification and experience of a candidate will be the last date of receipt of applications. (17) The physically handicapped persons fulfilling the prescribed qualifications and experience are also encouraged to apply. (18) Mere fulfillment of essential educational qualifications & experience does not entitle a candidate to be called for Interview. The decision of CSIR-CIMAP/CSIR in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection, conduct of interview will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained in this connection from any candidate or his/her agency. (19) Incomplete applications and applications not supported by attested copies of certificates of educational qualifications, experience certificate, community certificate, testimonials, list of publications, reprints and application fee are liable to be summarily rejected. (20) Outstation candidates called for interview will be paid to and fro single second-class rail fare/ordinary bus fare from the normal place of their residence or that declared in the application or from the actual place of undertaking the journey, in India, whichever is nearer to the place of interview, as per rules. (21) Canvassing in any form and bringing in influence political or otherwise will be treated as disqualification.

Size, indicating number of Advertisement, Position No. and Name of the post applied for, affixing a postal stamp worth Rs. 10/- by 7th September, 2012

Applications on prescribed form duly completed in all respects alongwith a recent passport size photograph, attested copies of certificates of educational qualification, experience certificate, community/PWD certificate (in the case of SC/ST/OBC/PWD etc.) and application fee of Rs. 100/- only for general and OBC category candidates (no fee is payable by the candidates belonging to SC/ST community, Physically Handicapped persons and regular employees of CSIR) through an a/c payee Bank Draft issued by State Bank of India (SBI) with a six months validity, drawn in favour of Director, Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Lucknow OR Director, CIMAP, Lucknow payable at State Bank of India, Main Branch, Lucknow should be sent to the Administrative Officer, CIMAP, Post Office-CIMAP, Lucknow-226 015 so as to reach us on or before 14TH September, 2012. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances. Applications received after the due date will not be entertained.
