CSIR- National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow, a premier plant science research institute under Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), is involved in multidisciplinary R&D programmes of both basic and applied nature across scientific disciplines for economic, environmental and societal benefits for the people of India. CSIR-NBRI undertakes basic and applied research in strategically important areas of plant sciences including plant systematics and biodiversity, conservation biology, environmental biology, floriculture, plant-microbe interactions, plant biotechnology, genetic engineering and bioinformatics.

Principal Scientist
Age limit: not exceeding 45yrs
Area : Biodiversity
Essential educational qualifications & experience : Ph.D. in any Science subject in the areas of assessment / characterization of biodiversity, studies on Taxonomy of higher plants/ Algae/Lichens/ bryophytes / pteridophytes followed by 03 years research experience in the relevant area.
Desirable : R&D work in the area of assessment, Morphological/ Chemical/ Molecular Characterization of Algae/Lichens/br yophytes / pteridophytes/ higher plants supported by high impact factor publications
Job specification : To undertake floristic surveys for the biodiversity assessment, GIS Mapping, Digitization, Bioprospection and management of Herbarium of Algae/Lichens/ bryophytes/ pteridophytes/ higher plants.
Senior Principal Scientist
Age limit: not exceeding 50yrs
Area : Biodiversity
Essential educational qualifications & experience : Ph.D. in any Science subject in the area of assessment / characterization of biodiversity, studies on Taxonomy of higher plants/ Algae/Lichens/ bryophytes / pteridophytes followed by 06 years research experience in the relevant area.
Scientist
Age limit: not exceeding UR-32 years OBC-35 years
Area : Area: Botanic Garden
Essential educational qualifications & experience : Ph.D. in any Science subject (Submitted) in the area of Introduction, Conservation, Characterization, Domestication and Documentation of Ornamental Plants.
Desirable : R&D work on Threatened Plants / Floriculture Crops as evident from quality research publications.
Job specification : To undertake R&D work in the area of improvement and conservation of ornamental plants / Floriculture / Landscaping.
Senior Scientist
Age limit: not exceeding UR-37 years OBC-40 years
Area : Area: Botanic Garden
Essential educational qualifications & experience : Ph.D. in any Science subject in the area of Introduction, Conservation, Characterization, Domestication and Documentation of Ornamental Plants followed by 02 years research experience in the relevant area.

The age limit includes permissible age relaxation (s), for the SC/ST/OBC, as the case may be. However, additional relaxation of 10 years in age is permissible in the case of PWD candidates.
Note 1- For the above Scientific posts, the Candidates having experience in Product Development/Technology Innovation/Applied Technology Product Development/ Translational Research etc. will be given due weightage.
