Gokaraju Rangaraju College of Pharmacy (GRCP) was established in the year 2003 by Dr. G. Ganga Raju, in fond memory of his father, Late Sri Gokaraju Ranga Raju, a crusader in the field of education in the West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. The mission of GRCP is to impart pharmaceutical education of international standards to our students to help them become pharmacists of the highest caliber, while upholding human values. GRCP strives to provide state-of-art infrastructure. Multi¬speciality faculty continuously review, innovate, experiment teaching methodologies and learning resources and focus on research, training and consultancy, through an integrated institute-industry symbiosis. The college is thrice NBA Accreditcd-B. Pharmacy.

Eligibility: Faculty, research scientists from AICTE approved Pharmacy Institutions and students of M. Pharmacy and scientists from Pharmaceutical Industries.

About the Workshop
Animal studies play a pivotal role in many scientific and medical advances in the country. Animal experiments give a better understanding of the pathogenesis, efficacy and putative mechanism behind the development of diseases that are likely to be encountered in humans. Bridging the data obtained from in vivo studies is to be extrapolated to humans, these animals serve as the biological system to test new therapeutic compounds, procedures and physiological phenomena that will eventually be used in humans. Throughout the world, people enjoy a better quality of life because of these advances, developments of new medicines and treatments - all made possible by lab animal research.

With growing concerns for the ethical use of the animals in research, many countries have made it mandatory for all researchers to be proficient in the sciences of animals which include the proper management, handling as well as the techniques, before being allowed to use them in their studies. This is in line with extensive evidence from various studies which has shown that stress resulting from improper animal husbandry, handling and manipulations will result in skewed and irreproducible data. Not only is this a waste in terms of resources such as money and time, but also results in the unnecessary sacrifice of animals.

Thus the objective of this seminar is to disseminate knowledge and information on pharmacology, management practices, ethics and welfare issues encountered in the use of laboratory animals to ensure its proper use.

Objectives:
An attempt to bring together researchers, academicians and students to discuss about recent developments in in vivo experimentation.
