Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the sixth member of the IIT fraternity, was established in 1994. The academic programme of IIT Guwahati commenced in 1995.
At present the Institute has eleven departments and three inter-disciplinary academic centres covering all the major engineering, science and humanities disciplines, offering BTech, BDes, MA, MDes, MTech, MSc and PhD programmes. Within a short period of time, IIT Guwahati has been able to build up world class infrastructure for carrying out advanced research and has been equipped with state-of-the-art scientific and engineering instruments.

Dibrugarh University, the easternmost University of India was set up in 1965 under the provisions of the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965 enacted by the Assam Legislative Assembly. It is a teaching-cum-affiliating University with limited residential facilities. The University is situated at Rajabheta at a distance of about five kilometres to the south of the premier town of Dibrugarh in the eastern part of Assam as well as India. The University is located in a campus of 203 hectares out of which 74.3 hectares are under tea plantation.

The promulgation of Employees' State Insurance Act, 1948(ESI Act), by the Parliament was the first major legislation on social Security for workers in independent India. It was a time when the industry was still in a nascent stage and the country was heavily dependent on an assortment of imported goods from the developed or fast developing countries. The deployment of manpower in manufacturing processes was limited to a few select industries such as jute, textile, chemicals etc. The legislation on creation and development of a fool proof multi-dimensional Social Security system, when the country's economy was in a very fledgling state was obviously a remarkable gesture towards the socio economic amelioration of a workface though limited in number and geographic distribution. India, notwithstanding, thus, took the lead in providing organized social protection to the working class through statutory provisions.

The glorious history of Assam Police is inextricably woven with the history of the Nation & North – East in general and that of present day Assam in particular. While Policing did exist in the days of Ahom kings, a modern Police came into existence with the coming of the British rulers. From humble origins, the force has grown from strength to strength tackling new challenges and crisis ranging from maintenance of law & order and prevention of crimes to tackling insurgency, violent ethnic movements and mass movements of unprecedented dimensions. Despite all odds Assam Police has come out with flying colours which has been paid for by the sacrifice of lives of more than one thousand Assam Police personnel.

Assam Rifles Technical and Tradesman Recruitment Rally 2018-19 will be held from 28 Jan 2019 onwards for enrolment into Group B and C posts based on applications received from eligible male / female candidates for the trades/ posts as detail mentioned in Appendix ‘A’ & ‘B’.
