The National Institute of Plant Genome Research (formerly known as National Centre for Plant Genome Research) is an autonomous institution aided by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Institute's establishment coincides with the 50th anniversary of India's independence as well as birth anniversary of Prof. (Dr.) J. C. Bose. The formal announcement was made on November 30th 1997. This Institute has already placed India among the major contributors to plant genomics.

CSIR – Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow is one of the premier research institutes of India which were envisioned by the National leaders much before the independence of our nation to drive and lead the technological independence. Apart from the new drug development, the Institute is richly contributing to the advancement of our understanding of disease biology in the areas of national priorities, and set-off revolution of Indian pharma sector over the past 70 years.

CSIR-IHBT is one of the 38 national laboratories of the Council of Scientific Industrial Research. It is located in the backdrop of snow-covered peaks of Dhauladhar mountain range at an elevation of 1300 m amsl. The Institute has a focus to develop technologies for boosting bioeconomy through sustainable utilization of Himalayan bioresources for societal, industrial and environmental benefits.

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) at S.A.S Nagar (Mohali) created as a Centre of Excellence for imparting higher education, research and development in pharmaceutical sciences and management is the first Institute of its kind in the country. The Institute was declared as an Institute of National Importance by Government of India through an Act of Parliament, notified on 26th June 1998. The Institute is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. During the years 2007 and 2008, Government of India established six more NIPERs.

During the years 2007 and 2008, the Government of India established six more NIPERs.

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first Institute of its kind to be set up at in the State of Bihar in the year 2007. It is an autonomous institution of national importance, established under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India under NIPER Act 1998 at Hajipur in Vaishali District of Bihar.
