The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani is an all India Institution declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act. Admissions to all the Integrated First Degree programmes of BITS, Pilani, at Pilani campus, Goa campus, and Hyderabad Campus for the academic year 2014 - 15 will be made on the basis of a Computer based Online Test conducted by BITS, Pilani. This test will be referred to as ‘BITS Admission Test – 2014; in short as BITSAT - 2014 hereafter in this document.

BITSAT  is a Computer based online test for Admission to Integrated First Degree Programmes of BITS Pilani Campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad.

Applications are invited online from eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D. and M.Tech. (Research) Programmes of the Institute with or without fellowship for Spring Semester 2013- 14.

Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur is one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology in India. These Institutes have been created as centers of excellence for higher training, research and development in science, engineering and technology. Established as a College of Engineering College in 1963, the Institute was declared as National Institute of Technology in the year 2002. Application has to be filled online (link available at mnit.ac.in) by 20th November 2013 and printed application form with photograph, photocopy of necessary documents along-with the Demand Draft of Rs. 400/- for General and OBC, Rs. 200/- for SC/ST category in favour of the Registrar, MNIT Jaipur payable at Jaipur should reach respective department latest by 25th November 2013.

The Public Petition dated 11-11-1839 initiated the establishment of Madras University. It was in January 1840 with Mr.George Norton as its President, that the University Board was constituted. In 1854 after a lapse of 14 years, the Government of India formulated a systematic educational policy for India and as a sequel to this on 5th September 1857 by an act of legislative council of India the University was established. The University was organised in the model of London University.

The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is awarded to a candidate who, as per these regulations, has submitted a thesis on the basis of original and independent research in any particular discipline or involving more than one discipline (inter-disciplinary), that makes a contribution to the advancement of knowledge, which is approved by Board of examiners as required.
