CSIR - IHBT is the only laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in the State of Himachal Pradesh (H.P.), India. Institute has a focused research mandate on bioresources for catalysizing bioeconomy in a sustainable manner. The institute has:  state-of the art laboratories; remote sensing and mapping facilities; internationally recognised herbarium; animal house facility; pilot plants in nutraceuticals, essential oil and herbals; farms and polyhouses. National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The Government of India has declared NIPER as an 'Institute of National Importance'. It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India.

NIT Rourkela is one of the premier national level institutions for technical education in the country and is funded by the Government of India. Government of India has elevated the Regional Engineering College, Rourkela to a deemed university under the name of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela.  The main objective of the Institute is to produce quality Engineers and Scientists in Graduate and Post-Graduate levels in various branches of Engineering and Science. The Institute is managed by the Board of Governors of National Institute of Technology (Rourkela) Society and vested with significant degree of administrative and financial autonomy. To trace the history of Jadavpur University is to trace a part of India’s freedom movement, at least from the Swadeshi Movement onwards. It was 1905 -1906. Bengal stood divided. The times were feverish.The hegemony of the British establishment had to be challenged. Education had to play a new role in this changed scenario. It had to become a new form of resistance through which the emergent nationalist spirit could be propagated. With this in mind the National Council of Education (NCE) came into being.

The Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali (INST-Mohali) has been established by the Government of India as a specialized centre of excellence to promote the growth of R&D in, and exploit the application-potential of, Nano Science and Technology in the country. It is envisaged that INST-Mohali will initially focus on R&D in the areas of nanomaterials, nanometrology, nano-bio pharma, nano-medicine and on nano R&D relevant for food and agriculture. It is also expected to focus on basic research, human resource development and transfer of intellectual knowledge in the area of nanotechnology to industry to exploit its application potential. The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur was established in the year 1960. The Parliament of India passed the ‘Institutes of Technology Act 1961’ declaring all the IITs as “Institutions of National Importance”. The Parliamentary Act has given absolute autonomy to the IITs. When the foundation stone of the IIT system was laid, it was perceived that taking help from the industrially advanced western countries might be lot more effective in achieving the status of a world class technical institute.

Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) is an Autonomous Institution of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. IPC is created to set standards of drugs in the country. Its basic function is to update regularly the standards of drugs commonly required for treatment of diseases prevailing in this region. It publishes official documents for improving Quality of Medicines by way of adding new and updating existing monographs in the form of Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP). It further promotes rational use of generic medicines by publishing National Formulary of India. IP prescribes standards for identity, purity and strength of drugs essentially required from health care perspective of human beings and animals. IPC also provides IP Reference Substances (IPRS) which act as a finger print for identification of an article under test and its purity as prescribed in IP.

The University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) was established in 1971 as a Constituent College of University of Delhi. It imparts various medical and paramedical courses. Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital is the associated teaching hospital with 1000 beds.  UCMS is known for its quality research and has a National ranking of 7th based on the number of publications in PubMed indexed journals.

The Centre of Biomedical Research (CBMR) at Lucknow established with aims to promote and strengthen multidisciplinary areas of research and to create opportunity for extraordinary talented scientists to research at the interface between Chemical, Biological, Medical Sciences and NMR Spectroscopy. The centre focuses research in interfacing small molecule synthesis with Biology for developing future medicines and therapies. The government has generously invested in CBMR to create state-of-the-art facilities in molecular synthesis for Drug development and Discovery, Chemical Biology, Cell Biology, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and NMR Spectroscopy
