The CSIR-Central Drugs Research Institute (CDRI) will inform Prime Minister Narendra Modi about three new drugs being developed by the Institute during its visit to the campus. Modi is also president of the Scientific and Industrial Research Council (CSIR) and this will be his first visit to any of his laboratories in the country. The institute is also organizing an exhibition to highlight the CDRI's contribution to the discovery and development of PM medications.

CDRI director Madhu Dikshit said: "The three drugs to be discussed are antimalarials, osteoporosis and a drug to treat a blood clot. In addition, the Institute recently carried out an inspection for the certification of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). The GLP certification will give the institute's medicines international acceptance. " Dikshit said Phase 1 clinical trials for multiple doses of the anti-malaria drug has been made. It may turn out to be a new effective way to treat the disease - a disease that is becoming resistant to current medications.

She said that the PM will see the exhibition first and will pay a visit to the Molecular Structural Biology Laboratory and the Chemistry laboratory of natural products with 85,000 compounds. The Institute will give painting to the PM made by the scientist Sujeet Khurana. "He will probably plant medicinal plants in Maharshi Charak's garden," she added.

For the osteoporosis drug that has national and international patent, single dose clinical trial has been done, will aid in the rapid recovery of bone. While the institute has sought out the monkey for the blood clotting drug test to see the usefulness of the drugs in the treatment of blood clotting, "she added.
