The facility is affiliated with National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi (NIPGR) and serve to facilitate genotyping services with private service providers and then advanced these, in a focused way, to meet the goal of food and nutritional security through genomics led breeding. The fundamental principle is relatively simple create and charter an entity with express purpose of serving crop or plant varietal genotyping and characterization in India. It will also help to overcome legal hurdles in Material Transfer, IPR protection, etc.
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of one Research Associate-II, one Project Associate-I and One Technical Assistant in the DBT Multi-institutional project entitled “Discovery of indigenous genome editing tools and developing high yielding rice varieties”, under the supervision of Dr. Aashish Ranjan, Scientist, NIPGR.
Research Associate-II (one post)
Emoluments : Rs. 61000/- plus 27% HRA per month as sanctioned in the project.
Qualification : Candidate having Ph.D degree in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Plant Physiology/Genetics & Plant Breeding/Bioinformatics or equivalent and fulfilling the guidelines as per DST- OM number: DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26/06/2023 are eligible to apply.
Desirable Qualifications : Strong basic understanding of genetics, molecular biology, plant development, and/or plant physiology is required. Candidate with prior work experience in rice tissue culture and gene- editing, with at least one first author publication will be preferred.
Job Requirements : Rice tissue culture and transformation, Generation and maintenance of rice gene-edited lines, Genetic and molecular characterization as well as photosynthesis/developmental phenotyping Gene- edited lines
Project Associate I (one post)
Emoluments : Rs. 31000/- plus 27% HRA per month as sanctioned in the project.
Qualifications : Candidates having M.Sc. Degree in Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Biochemistry/ Plant Physiology/ Genetics & Plant Breeding/ Bioinformatics or equivalent with at least 60 % (or equivalent) marks and fulfilling the guidelines as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated 10/07/2020 are eligible to apply.
The upper age limit for the position is 35 years.
Desirable Qualifications : Basic understanding of genetics, molecular biology, plant development, and/or plant physiology is required. Candidate with prior work experience in rice tissue culture and gene-editing will be preferred.
Job Requirements : PCR, Cloning, Rice tissue culture and transformation, Generation and maintenance of rice gene-edited lines
Technical Assistant (one post)
Emoluments : Rs. 20000/- plus 27% HRA per month as sanctioned in the project.
Qualifications : Candidates having B.Sc. Degree or 3year diploma in engineering & technology and fulfilling the guidelines as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated 10/07/2020 are eligible to apply.
The upper age limit for the position is 50 years.
Desirable Qualifications : Prior experience of working in molecular biology/biotechnology lab.
Job Requirements : Technical support to the lab and project, Assistance in rice tissue culture and transformation as well as maintenance of rice gene-edited lines.
The above positions are completely temporarily and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship/emolument amount for the above positions is as sanctioned in the project and as per DBT/DST norms. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier, and tenure of the post can be curtailed based on the assessment of the candidate's performance and the discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending on the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated at any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.
