68th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) is organised and started at city of happening, Visakhapatnam under the premises of Andhra University. More than 9000 delegates and students from various part of India participated in this event. This event is organised in Andhra University for three days, 16th to 18th December 2016. The main theme of the event is Quality pharmaceuticals & patients welfare.

This mega pharma event was inaugurated by chief guest Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Hon’ble Minister of HRD, Govt of AP. Other pharma dignitaries like Dr. B. Suresh, Dr. Rao Vadlamudi, Dr. TV Narayana, Prof. KPR choudhary were witnessed the event.

Mr SV Veerramani president of IPCA said, “Indian Pharmaceutical Industry has contributed significantly to reduce disease burden and improving health indicators such as life expectancy, infant mortality, birth rate and much more by making affordable and high quality medicines. The key factors for these achievements is available of affordable medicines, choice for patients, hospital administration etc. The pharmacists play major role in ensuring patient welfare, major adverse drug reaction such as drug-drug or drug-food interactions. The role of pharmacists not only involved in discovery, development, production, supply or management of pharmaceutical products but also most qualified and well trained professional involved in dispense of right medicines, in right quality, in right dose, in right appliance, in right way of taking medicine to get right outcome.”

 

Dr. A Ramkishan, convener, SSC, IPCA and Deputy Drugs Controller (India) highlighted the quality aspects of pharmaceuticals and its importance to society. He mentioned that if we see GDP in terms of vision 2020 for pharmaceuticals, Indian pharmaceutical industry is growing way higher than other developed countries of North America, Latin America, Europe, other part of Asia etc.

More than 3600 abstracts received by scientific committee of the 68th IPC and more than 150+ industrial expo is held along with IPC.
