The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is a non–governmental, official public standards–setting authority for prescription and over–the–counter medicines and other healthcare products manufactured or sold in the United States. USP also sets widely recognized standards for food ingredients and dietary supplements. USP sets standards for the quality, purity, strength, and consistency of these products–critical to the public health. Job Description
Function of the Position:
This is a hands-on, non-supervisory position in USP-India’s Biologics Lab. Conducts lab test procedures as per requirement and involves in Verification Program, method verification, method development, method validation, collaborative testing and training programs. Responsible for independent execution of project tasks when assigned.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on Bench work: Carries out experimentation in the Microbiology and Molecular biology area of Biologics lab and records experimental data, ensuring clear and accurate transcription of results and calculations.    
  • Independently plans and executes experiments for project tasks assigned. Derives interpretation and conclusion of results.    
  • Plans daily work, records and review results and documents to ensure correctness and to fulfill targets on time.    
  • Completes assigned work with quality and in a timely manner. Assists the group leader in implementing laboratory procedures and systems. Coordinates with other team members as per requirement    
  • Prepares protocols and reports including calculations and conclusions. Prepares presentations and documents related to projects and various scientific discussions as delegated.    
  • Follows QMS practices. Recommends improvements to systems and all other supporting activities.    
  • Assists supervisor in planning, evaluating and implementing lab procedures and systems. Takes part in audits as per delegation.    
  • Follows and ensures aspects related to safety, ethics and legal compliance.    
  • Performs in-charge duties for the allocated lab/equipment/inventory/supporting activities and takes responsibility for the timely completion of the tasks assigned.    
  • Demonstrates a strong desire to continue learning and grow personal capability. Pursues, recommends and implements new approaches or processes to improve laboratory operations    
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills
Minimum Requirements:

  1. The candidate must take personal responsibility to ensure work is delivered on time and is of the highest possible quality.    
  2. Basic understanding of scientific concepts, ability to anticipate, troubleshoot, and solve technical problems.    
  3. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Computer proficiency is must.

Required Experience:

  • Master’s degree in any life science field with not less than four years of experience in Microbiology and Molecular biology fields.    
  • Experience in executing classic Microbiology methods, Rapid Microbiology methods, DNA based methods (PCR) and ELISA are must.
