The Indian Iron & Steel Company (IISCO), a SAIL subsidiary, was amalgamated with SAIL on 16th February 2006 and renamed IISCO Steel Plant (ISP). This full-fledged integrated steel plant is one of India’s oldest. Established as an industrial enterprise in 1918, IISCO produced iron from an open-top blast furnace at Hirapur (later to be called Burnpur) in West Bengal for the first time in 1922. The plant was progressively upgraded to a capacity for production of 4.26 lakh tonnes of saleable steel and 2.54 lakh tonnes of pig iron annually. The plant manufactures a range of products, over some of which it holds exclusive market dominance. Iron & steel produced by it has been acknowledged as being of the finest quality. After undergoing a modernisation-cum-expansion programme, the crude steel capacity of the plant has been raised to 2.5 million tons per year.

Required Qualifications : Intermediate (10+2) with Science from any university / institution recognized by the Central or State Govt. & 2 (Two) Years Diploma in Pharmacy from any university / institution recognized by the Central or State Govt. Or Graduate in Pharmacy from any university / institution recognized by the Central or State Govt.
Upper Age Limit (as on 01.10.2023) : General candidates - 30 years OBC Candidates - 33 years ST & SC Candidates - 35 years
Duration of Training : 18 months, Subsequent Extension subject to vacancy.
The Medical fitness of the candidate selected as trainee under the scheme will have to be certified by the Medical Officer of IISCO Steel Plant Hospital.
Stipend : Rs. 10,000/- per month (To be paid on prorate basis based on actual attendance)
Knowledge & Skill enhancement allowance :
Rate of allowance for each day of physical presence (Rs / day of presence)
20 days or more : 260/-
15 to 19 days : 130/-
Less than 15 days : No amount may be given as allowance. Only stipend to be paid.
The maximum amount payable will be Rs. 10,000/- (stipend) + Rs. 7,020/- (Rs. 260 x 27 as allowance) = Rs. 17,020/-. Payment shall be made only through Bank. No payments other than as mentioned above, shall be payable to the trainees during the period of their training.
Switch Over : During the period of training, the trainee will not be allowed to switch over his / her allotted speciality stream. However, the trainee may be allowed to apply for a fresh term only on completion of the current training cycle.
Facilities admissible during the period of training :
a) The trainees, during the period of their training, shall be entitled to medical facilities (without referral) for self only at company hospital.
b) Accommodation facility for self only may be considered as per availability on payment basis.
c) On successful completion of the training, a Certificate of Proficiency shall be issued to the trainees by the IISCO Steel Plant Hospital.
Leave facilities during the period of training :
The trainees, during the period of their training, shall be entitled to 7 days of Casual Leave and Closed Holiday (or Compensatory off) for National Holidays.
Conduct and Discipline during the period of training :
a) The Proficiency Training Programme (Intern Paramedic) is purely temporary for a period of 18 months. The training of a trainee can be terminated without notice if the Conduct / Performance are not found to be satisfactory.
b) The selected trainees shall execute an Undertaking on a Judicial Stamp Paper of Rs.10/- (as per the format annexed) to serve the IISCO Steel Plant Hospital strictly as a Vocational trainee and will not claim for employment in the IISCO Steel Plant Hospital, Burnpur on this ground, nor will the trainee raise any dispute in this respect. The trainee shall also declare that he/she will complete the training period.
c) The trainee shall follow the norms of Safety, Discipline, Conduct and Professional Ethics and also carry out the lawful orders of the Medical Administration issued from time to time. The trainee shall obey all such orders and directions as received from the superiors.
On completion of the training “Certificate of completion ” will be issued to the successful candidates.
