Post: Head, Distribution

A. ROLE PURPOSE
The incumbent will be responsible for Pan India Distribution Activities of Pfizer across Pharmaceutical business. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring distribution effectiveness that ensures optimal stock availability across distribution points at all times and servicing customers on-time and completely while keeping costs under control and complying to all regulatory and statutory provisions and maintaining best in class distribution practices.

The incumbent should process a strategic bent of mind who can analyze existing data, project trends for the future and conceive ideas well before time to maintain / improve cost effectiveness while improving customer responsiveness and thereby favourably impacting business for the company.

He/She should be open to trying / adopting new and different ideas and drive implementation of those through the internal and external environment.

B. SPAN OF CONTROL
Supervision: (Positions reporting directly to the incumbent): 3 positions will report into the incumbent, namely :
1. Manager CFA Operations
2. Manager Hub Operations and Transportation
3. Manager MIS and Distribution Effectiveness

C. JOB SPECIFICATIONS
(Minimum educational requirement, special skills & knowledge and any other requirements needed for the satisfactory performance of the job)

1. Qualification
- Should possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, with a management diploma in operations from a reputed business school.
- Should possess at least 10 years of experience in sales and distribution, with at least 3 out of those years in a leadership position with Pan India operations overseeing all aspects of pharmaceutical distribution operations of atleast Rs 500 Crs.

2. Special Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical sector.
- Knowledge of regulatory/ statutory provisions with respect to storage and transportation of pharmaceutical goods.
- Knowledge of distribution practices including those for Cold Chain products
- Experience of handling projects such as Inter-Company and Legal Entity integrations, Restructuring / revamping / establishing distribution set-ups for pharma companies.

D. JOB ROLE
Key Accountabilities
1. Strategic/ Policy
- Conceive and execute a Distribution strategy, in conjunction with sales, marketing and manufacturing functions.
- Introduce methods to improve distribution effectiveness across the distribution chain including customer satisfaction.
- Continuously monitor the environment for developments in technology/ practices that can be adopted to improve distribution effectiveness and customer satisfaction
- Periodically benchmark the distribution system performance and give improvement suggestions based on the analysis to planning and operations.
- Develop annual distribution budget for the company and ensure that the same is achieved / exceeded.

2. Operational
- Review norms for central warehousing, transportation and CFA Operations to maximize compliance and customer satisfaction
- Conduct periodic reviews of central warehousing, transportation and CFA Operations to ensure adherence to predefined norms.
- Ensure adherence to stocking, dispatch, non-saleable destruction, and storage and upkeep norms at warehouse, transporter and CFA.
- Ensure compliance to tax norms and statutory/ regulator norms by the service providers.
- Deal with non-conformance of distribution norms and conceive / implement remedial action.
- Involve all stakeholders viz., Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing and Customers to obtain feedback on the service levels of Pfizer in general and of the CFAs in particular.
- Continuously monitor the distribution system parameters like stock service levels at locations, inter store transfers, distribution costs etc. and conceive / implement ideas for improvement.
- Implement new projects based on improvement opportunities identified through the team.

3. People
- Manage, motivate and engage the Distribution Team to improve compliance, effectiveness and customer focus.
- Demonstrate and promote Pfizer global value system across all interactions.
- Build a positive mind-set and a culture of customer orientation in the Distribution Team

4. Financial
- High consciousness regarding cost of operation
- Ensure financial policies of the company are adhered to and there are no statutory exposures to the company.             

5. Technology
- Be familiar with all company tech solution their features, limitations, etc
- Be able to create system briefs for any new introduction etc

E. PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Key Performance Indicators
- Achievement / Exceed Distribution Budget of the company
- Improvements in cost/ quality/ process time made
- Distribution Audit observations – Compliance to all regulatory and statutory requirement across the Distribution Chain
- Change / Improvement in levels of Customer Satisfaction ( internal and external )
- Timely completion of projects undertaken
- Innovative process / practice changes initiated / executed and their results
