The Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute (VPCI) is a unique postgraduate medical institution devoted to research, teaching and patient care in the field of chest diseases. It is a University of Delhi maintained institution and is funded entirely by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The Institute is ideally located in the heart of the main campus of the University of Delhi, providing the requisite academic environment.

The Indian Registry of Pathology was established in 1965 under the auspices of the Indian Council of Medical Research in New Delhi, India as a Centre for collection and distribution of teaching material in pathology. The Registry was renamed in 1980 as the National Institute of Pathology (IOP) in view of its expanded scope and activities.

The Department of Biotechnology initiated Tata Innovation Fellowship in 2007 to promote innovation in science, in finding effective solutions to major existing challenges in modern Biology/Biotechnology. The emphasis of the scheme is to recognize and reward scientists with outstanding track record in biological sciences/ biotechnology and commitment to find innovative solutions in healthcare, agriculture, environment, conservation of natural resources, livestock production manufacturing process etc. Upto 5 fellowships are given every year.

Vardhman Mahavir Medical College was established at Safdarjung Hospital by the Government of India in November, 2001. Its inauguration was done by the then  Honourable Prime Minister Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee on  17th December, 2001 in presence of Sh.L.K.Advani, Sh. C. P. Thakur and Founder Principal Dr. Jagdish Prasad. The College building was dedicated to the Nation by the Vice President Sh. M. Hamid Ansari on 20th Nov. 2007 in the presence of Honourable Health Minister Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss.
