Health ministry to amend Form 12-B of D&C Rules; Form 12-B of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules is for giving permission for import of small quantities of drugs for personal use. The Union health ministry will soon amend Rules in this regard.

To ensure medicines sold in the country are genuine products, the health ministry has developed a 'Track and Trace' mechanism which will enable consumers to check safety and authenticity of a drug through the internet. Barcode helps in tracking and tracing origin of drugs, which minimises the chances of genuine medicines being considered spurious, sub-standard or counterfeit. The Pharmaceutical exporters keep demand in front of Union commerce ministry to exempt barcodes on mono cartons as a secondary level packaging on pharmaceuticals and drugs export consignment which is to be implemented from April 1, 2015 for tracing and tracking purposes.
World Health Organization (WHO) Country office for India in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), formally announced the commencement of National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), as the WHO Collaborating Centre for Priority Medical Devices and Health Technology Policy.

CDSCO Ahmedabad became first ISO certified national regulatory body in India. The office of the Deputy Drugs Controller (India), CDSCO, Ahmedabad was audited on 10th february by the nominated auditor of notified body and certified it ISO 9001:2008 certificate.
Due to increasing cases of swine flu in India, it was came to know that swine flu drugs are running short in stock. Therefore, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) asks pharma companies to maintain adequate amount of swine flu drug in the country to ensure a smooth supply of medicines.
