  • (29th July, 2014); Looking at the current regulatory environment of clinical trial in India, it is important that all information related to 4 major domains i.e, Sponsor/ CRO, Investigator, Ethics Committee, Patient of clinical trials are captured through online in an organized manner. Hence, for ensuring transparency and faster dissemination of information about clinical trials, health ministry may start information technology (IT) enabled platform. The recommendation of such platform is provided by Prof. Ranjit Roy Chaudhary Committee.

  • (14th July, 2014); NIPER, Hyderbad is all set to develop National Centre for Research & Development in Bulk Drug (NCRDBD) for filling up gap in Research and Development in bulk drugs. The over all project costs around more than 52 crore rupees and with an operating cost of over 37 crore rupees for five years.

  • (3rd July, 2014); Four new vaccines are introduced as part of India’s Universal Immunization Programme (UIP), announced by Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. Vaccines against rotavirus, rubella and polio (injectable) will collectively expedite India’s progress on meeting the Millennium Development Goal 4 targets to reduce child mortality by two-thirds by the year 2015 and meet global polio eradication targets. In addition, an adult vaccine against Japanese encephalitis will be introduced in districts with high levels of the disease.

    (30th June, 2014); Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan held a four hour long meeting with top experts at the world famous Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at Atlanta on 28th June.

  • Free drug policy to be streamlined for integration with NHM

    (1st June, 2014); Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, has asked for thorough streamlining of systems in the distribution of free generic drugs to government health institutions at all levels throughout the country. The Free Drug Programme’s formal launch would be preceded by working out all logistical details with respect to procurement and distribution in consultation with the state governments.
