The Minister for Health & Family Welfare Shri J P Nadda launched the National Deworming initiative aimed to protect more than 24 crore children in the ages of 1-19 years from intestinal worms, on the eve of the National Deworming Day, at Jaipur. Also present at the function were Shri Rajendra Rathore, Health Minister, Rajasthan. They administered the deworming tablets to some school going children.
There is a need for innovation in the systems and practices in delivery of healthcare to enhance their effectiveness. There is an equal need for sharing of best practices between the various stakeholders in the health sector in order to benefit from the prevalent knowledge and experience in different quarters. Union Health Minister Shri J P Nadda stated this at the Third Biennial International Conference and Advanced Live Laparoscopic Workshop- ENDOLAP 2014, organised by the Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, on 7th Feb.
A separate regulator for alternative medicine streams like Ayurveda, Siddha, Homeopathy and Unani is being planned by the government under a new health policy to be unveiled shortly. Minister of State for Health Shripad Yesso Naik said a Cabinet note is being finalised for new regulations of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) products under the new AYUSH health policy.
Union Health Minister J P Nadda stressed upon the need for a focused academic research for strengthening the sector and providing “accessible and affordable” healthcare especially for the needy.
Focused academic research can go a long way in strengthening the health sector, and provide solutions to many challenges facing the country in providing accessible and affordable health care to all, particularly the needy and vulnerable. Similarly, IT can play a crucial role as an enabler to address several critical issues in the country’s health sector.
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India has approved 25 panels of experts of various therapeutic areas. These panels will ensure the approval of right clinical trials at right time.
Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) investigated a Pune based hospital after receiving compliant against hospital that they are performing unethical stem cell clinical trial and patients are highly charged for unapproved and illegal transplants.
Department of Health and Family Welfare proposes to implement a Central Sector Scheme for Strengthening the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO); and State Drug Regulatory System during the residual period of Twelfth Five Year Plan (2012 - 2017) at an estimated cost of Rs.900 crore and Rs.850 crore (excluding States’ share) respectively.
IP Addendum-2015 to IP-2014 has been released on 28.11.2014 by Sh. Lov Verma, Secretary Health & Family Welfare and Chairman, India Pharmacopoeia Commission in the presence of senior officers of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Scientific Staff of IP Commission.
(5th November, 2014); Today, Food Safety and Standards (Amendment) Bill, 2014 is withdrawn by government with approval of shri Narendra Modi, PM of India. It needs further amendments in bill.
