The foundation stone laying ceremony was performed by the former Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Chandra Shekhar on 20 January, 1991 in Sector 32 on the quilt of 36.09 acre of land allotted by the Chandigarh Administration. Construction for this College and Hospital started in 1991 itself. In the meantime Government Medical College started functioning from Prayaas building, Sector 38, Chandigarh with General Hospital, Sector 16 as an attached teaching hospital.

Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) - 01 post
Age : <= 35 years
Qualification : First class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry, Genetics/Immunology.
Desirable : research experience preferably in human blood sample processing (performing rt-PCR)
Salary : Rs. 56000/- + 20% HRA (11200/-) = 67200/-per month

Project Technical support - III - 01 post
Age : <=35 years
Qualification : Minimum second class or equivalent CGPA with four- year Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B. Pharm) / Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) course with Basic computer course certificate.
Desirable: research experience in Clinical trials (drug handling) and proficiency in MS Office and data entiy
Salary : 28000/- + 20% HRA (5600/-) =33600/-per month

• The candidates will initially be shortlisted based on the qualification and the work experience. If number of candidates are more, a written test might be taken. • Tenure: The assignments are purely on contract basis for a period of twelve months extendable to three years in ESCHAR Trial. These appointments will be made from the staff strength sanctioned under 1CMR project and the appointments wilt not vest any right to claim by the candidate for regular appointment or permanent absorption in GMCH 32/DHR/ICMR or continued contractual appointment.
• Expiry of contract The contract will automatically expire on completion of twelve months or earlier in case of withdrawal of support by funding agency. The contractual appointment can be terminated at any time by either side by giving 30 days' notice or salary in lieu thereof.
• All disputes will be subjected to the jurisdictions of Court of Law at UT, Chandigarh.
