Retired Armed Forces personnel till 2002 could avail medical facilities only for specific high cost surgery/treatment for a limited number of diseases covered under the Army Group Insurance(Medical Branch Scheme) (AGI(MBS)) and Armed Forces Group Insurance Scheme (Management Information System) (AFGIS (MIS)) schemes. These medicare schemes could provide some relief to the ESM, but it was not a comprehensive scheme as compared to and available for other Central Government Employees. Therefore, the requirement was felt of establishing a medicare system which could provide quality medicare to the retirees of the Armed Forces.

Kerala State Biodiversity Board is an autonomous body of the State Government and come under the Kerala State Environment Department. With the Head Quarter at Thiruvananthapuram the Board falls under the provision of the Biological Diversity Act 2002, Rules 2004 and Kerala State Biological Diversity Rules 2008.The KSBB is dedicated into conservation and protection of the agro, plant and fish diversity of the State. Devaki Amma Memorial Trust, established in 1997 made its first foray into the field of education in 2001, with the establishment of its Teacher Education College offering the B Ed course, with the approval of the NCTE. The Pharmacy College started functioning from 2003 with the B Pharm course and the Teacher Training Institute, offering the TTC (D Ed) course, commenced its academic programme in the year 2005. With the starting of the M Ed course in 2006, the Teacher Education College got itself elevated to a Post Graduate Centre. Kerala Medical Services Corporation (KMSCL) is a fully owned Government Corporation for providing services to the various health care institutions under the department of Family Welfare as per Section 67 of Companies Act; 1956. The company was incorporated on 28th December 2007. One of the key objectives of the KMSCL is to act as the central procurement agency for all essential drugs and equipments for all public healthcare institutions under the department. The company is procuring drugs worth more than Rs 170 crores & above 250 different types of medical equipments and also provides services needed for health sector.
