The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) for the Central Govt. employees and their dependents was started in New Delhi in 1954. Subsequently, the scheme was extended to pensioners, freedom fighters and other specific groups of people. The scheme was introduced in Kolkata during 1972. Apart from Delhi and Kolkata, the scheme now covers the cities of Mumbai, Allahabad, Meerut, Kanpur, Patna, Nagpur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur, Pune, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, Shillong, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Bhubaneswar and Ranchi.

Government Medical College, Jammu, a premier institute of J&K was started in the year, 1973 in a temporary building with the object to provide quality education and deliver the health care service to the people of this region. This institution is located in the heart of Temple City Jammu. This institution was started with the aim to train fifty medical students for MBBS course per year and to serve as referral hospital for Jammu Province. But now the seating capacity has been increased upto 120 students per year, Besides MBBS course the college also imparts Post-graduate training Course.

State Health Society, Bihar (SHSB), a society registered under the Society Registration Act 1860, is the nodal agency working under the auspices of Health Department, Government of Bihar and is mandated for the implementation of National Health Mission in the state. SHSB plays a crucial role in supporting health infrastructure and programmes in the state.

The State Health Society, Bihar intends to invite applications for the appointment of Additional Director-PPP, Deputy Director-MCH and Assistant Director-Referral Transport on contractual basis, initially for 11 months which may be extended up to 3 years or more depending on candidate’s satisfactory performance, availability of funds and sanction of the post under NATIONAL HEALTH MISSION.
