The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is an autonomous body of the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy), Government of India. Sarada Vilas Educational Institution dates back to 1861, when it had a glorious beginning, with its founder the illustrious Rao Bahadur Bakshi Narasappa starting in Mysore city a school called "Sarada Vilas Patashala" to teach Sanskrit with the Royal patronage of His Higness, the Late Maharaja Sri Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar.
