Biotechnology

The Laboratory was established in 1941 as a research and production centre, known as Drug Research Laboratory of J&K State and was later taken over by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of Govt. of India in December 1957 as Regional Research Laboratory, Jammu. In view of its core strength in natural products based drug discovery, the mandate of Institute was redefined in 2005 and its name changed to Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM).

The CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute is amongst one of the constituent research institutes of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. Originally set up as the National Botanic Gardens (NBG) by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh  it was taken over by the CSIR in 1953.

 The AIIMS, Bhopal is a huge establishment sprawling in 150 acres having a large hospital complex, residential complex, hostels, Medical College, Nursing College (Centre of Excellence in Nursing Education) and other essential services. At present the bed strength of the hospital services is 793 with 24 modular operation theatres, 42 functional departments that include 22 speciality, 14 super-speciality and 6 other departments, catering to an average footfall of around 46264 OPD per month and 1609 IPD patients per month.

National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR) was established in 1977 as ‘Malaria Research Centre’, which was renamed as ‘National Institute of Malaria Research’ in November 2005. NIMR is one of the institutes of the Indian Council of Medical Research (an autonomous body under Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India).

Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), is a scientific society of the Department of Information Technology under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India. The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is an autonomous national institute of the Government of India, Ministry for Science & Technology, Department of Biotechnology. The mandate of the institute is discovery, innovation and translation in biotechnology and disease biology. At RGCB, our todays are committed to making discoveries that lead to a better tomorrow. RGCB prides itself for innovative research that integrates theory, modeling, simulation, experimental translational and clinical sciences.

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad is an "Institute of National Importance" with proclaimed objectives of becoming Centre of Excellence for advanced research in pharmaceutical sciences. NIPER-Mohali was the first institute established in the year 1998 under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, the Govt. of India.
