National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The Government of India has declared NIPER as an ‘Institute of National Importance’.

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER) is an Institute of national importance established by an Act of Parliament under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India. The main thrust areas of the institute are Tuberculosis, Malaria, Leishmaniasis and Diabetes.

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad is an autonomous body which has been established under the aegis of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, in the Government of India, to provide leadership in Pharmaceutical Sciences and other related areas. The Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad is its Mentor Institute for providing the institutional support in respect of its management and as a nodal point for the Ministry.
