The Agartala Government Medical College is situated in the G B Pant Hospital campus in a newly constructed building. It is fully equipped with Laboratories, Dissection Theatres, Lecture Theatres, Central Library, Common Room, Cafeteria, Intercom facilities, Central Workshop, Mechanized Laundry etc. This Institute is recognized & approved by Medical Council of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi and affiliated to Tripura University (A Central University).

The Silchar Medical College & Hospital remains the only referral hospital in the southern part of Assam and so, is the sole custodian of health care system of the entire Barak Valley. Being situated in a very strategic geographic location, it also renders its services to the ailing community of the neighbouring states like Mizoram, North Tripura, West Manipur and South Meghalaya.

Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) is an Autonomous Institution of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. IPC is created to set standards of drugs in the country. Its basic function is to update regularly the standards of drugs commonly required for treatment of diseases prevailing in this region. It publishes official documents for improving Quality of Medicines by way of adding new and updating existing monographs in the form of Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP).
