BRIC IBSD Fellowship Programme 2026 for Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry candidates

Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), an institute in the ambit of Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC) under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, invites application for the positions of Ph.D. JRF for the year 2026.

The main mandate of IBSD is conservation and sustainable utilization of bioresources for the socio-economic development of the North Eastern Region of India, which is a genetic treasure trove of plants, animals and microbial resources. This region falls among the world's top 10 Biodiversity Hotspots. The broad areas of research are in Plant Bioresources, Microbial Resources, Natural Product Chemistry, Animal Bioresources and Bioinformatics and Database Management.

Minimum qualification : Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Environmental Studies, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline from a recognized university. Candidates with a 4-years Bachelor’s degree in Science/Technology, or equivalent (including M.V.Sc., MBBS, etc) are also eligible to apply. Preference will be given to candidates holding a valid national fellowship such as CSIR-UGC JRF, DBT-JRF, INSPIRE, ICMR-JRF or other equivalent fellowship.

Selection Procedure : Selection will be based solely on an interview of candidates who have qualified for JRF or INSPIRE fellowships. The selected candidates will be enrolled in the BRIC-DBT-RCB Ph.D. Programme and may be placed at any of the Centres of BRIC-IBSD.

Fellowship : The fellowship and other emoluments will be as per the guidelines of the funding agencies –DST/DBT/CSIR/ICMR and as revised from time to time.

Application Procedure : Application should be sent in the prescribed application form (available on the IBSD website). The candidate should send the completed and signed form along with self attested copies of all supporting certificate and mark sheets along with an application fee of Rs.500/- (for GEN) & Rs.250/- for (OBC/PH/SC/ST), for which a Demand Draft in favour of Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, payable at Imphal, Manipur, should be attached with the application form. Candidates are advised to provide their email ID and mobile number as they would be contacted electronically by the Institute.

Fees for the enrolment in Ph.D. programme : The selected candidates have to be enrolled to Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad and should pay fees as per the rules of RCB. The date of interview will be announced later on institute website. No email in this regard will be sent to individual candidates.
